segment from my livestream where I spoke about my genesis X experience. these are ideas that I've developed as my time as a competitor and through the hours I played with kyon. everything was off the top of my head so I definitely did not cover everything but if there is enough interest I could script a video and organize it better.

one thing i want to emphasize about the whole nair conditioning call and response game is, DONT STOP UNLESS GIVEN A REASON TO! do not give your opponent the respect early to stop going for your win condition. make them prove to you they really do know how to deal with nair. sometimes people guess correctly! do it again gauge the amount of respect they deserve. do not assume your opponent will adapt. "oh i nair'd twice and they got hit for mashing surely they will shield this time" no they won't a lot of opponents are not conscious of what they are doing, so simply keep forcing your game on them. You cannot predict something even they dont know they're gonna do, take control of the situation and cover options that have been shown to you. Hope this helps!!

you are COOKING here link players are deprived of help (especially with the language barrier with other top links like kyon) the win conditions you showed are so good especially the stuff you learned from kyon ty and the stuff you yourself do in neutral ty goat

So glad you were able to talk to Kyon and learn firsthand about his methods, it’s hard having the best player of your character not speak your language lol

this is amazing - I feel like the majority of Link content online has been about combos and setups (which are great) but imo it's maybe more necessary to just know how to play neutral, advantage, and disadvantage. I'm bad at the game (1-2er) but a lot of my improvement has just come from watching streams of T, Rido, Prand Grix, and Kyon and absorbing what their play looks like on an average day. T mostly would stream Elite Smash but Rido and Prand Grix do online tourneys and Smashmate against pros so I got different things from each. the analysis of different styles is especially fascinating bc I don't think I'm good enough at definitively parsing the differences between Orange, Bernie, Deltaforce, VinS etc. but seeing you articulate it makes things clearer in my head. I used to watch a lot of MGK Ganondorf uploads where he would break down interactions in his matches and it made me wish people would do even a little bit of Link analysis. idk why I typed so much but I love the content and I hope u do more things like this in the future either on here or stream!

the idea of making informational content makes me worry a bit because i have no clue how it'll do + i as a player am still getting better and have a lot of room for improvement. but receiving feedback like this definitely reassures me and makes me want to keep making it even if it helps a small group of people. i could cover those other aspects of the game or review my own sets those are good ideas. thank u!

@@isohelsgarden that's free content, I'll be awaiting your "debunking my old advice" video in a year (that's valid though, it's hard to feel like an expert when there's still a ways to go)

Nice. Deltaforce is a bomb heavy Link in the vods I've watched, where it looks like his win condition is to nair the bomb to cover his approach and punish what they do. Mix with just throwing the bomb or bouncing the bomb in place to use it aggressively or defensively
@isohelsgarden
@isohelsgarden 3 ай бұрын
dang ! i actually covered this in my stream but i forgot to include it in the video. yea a really strong option with link is initiating an approach with bomb, then seeing how they react. works both aggressively and defensively. if this does well enough ill make a part 2 and include it

Don't get triggered; in my opinion delta force is the best link in the world, he's beaten WebbJP which is a very skilled sheik player who has beaten light, spargo, and other players. Maybe kyon has better wins I just don't know what Japanese players are significant obv shuton Acola.
@isohelsgarden
@isohelsgarden 3 ай бұрын
delta is def in contention, but kyon has a win on skyjay and many other high ranked japanese players. Japan as a region is just way more stacked than regions in NA so if you're using in region wins as a metric kyon still has the numbers. tbh though all of us have placed similarly at majors, usually around 65th-129th range. i think the race is on for whoever can get the breakout performance first at a major.
