So, tuning your E string down 1/2 step will get you most of the way there. It'll still sound pretty right-on. BUT, if you wanna 100% nail it, you also have to tune your D string down to a B. Of course, that changes the chord formations and voicings a bit.
@andreashennig2664 Жыл бұрын

Hello, there is a change that you missed in the 2nd chord of the last verse of the song, the part where Chris sings "look at the stars, look how the shine for you...". I believe the chord is some kind of F# minor 7, played like a minor but with the 7th added to the B string on the 5th fret (pinky finger). It is just played in the outtro but it makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE. Great video by the way, I learned a lot of songs from you already (:

Just a thought. Why not elevate the camera a bit and have a more angled view down onto the fretboard so you can see the fingering a bit more clearly? Sometimes, a dead-on view misses where exactly your fingertips are, especially when they're bunched up on barre chords. Or, when you're adding embellishments. Great videos, nonetheless. Just an added embellishment, video-wise :)

Quick tip you can also put finger on first fret of the e and tune down till it matches. Kinda reminds me of how to play creep by radiobead and it also reminds me of twist in my story by secondhand serenade. Itd in the same tuning and uses 2 of these chords.

I don’t know if it wasn’t added because it wasn’t noticed! But at the very end on the last “look at the stars, look how they shine for you” the second chord transition changes before the final E chord. It goes from the 1st chord in the sequence of the verse to a new shape that I don’t know the name of but you put your thumb on the second fret of the low E string, your middle, index finger and pinkie finger on the second fret of the D, G and B string (A major shape) Then your index finger on the 1st high E string. It just adds something extra to get that final change in on the recording whether or not Chris Martin does that on guitar I think it sounds super nice😊

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but there is one more chord during the last part of the song. It goes to F#m right before the last Emaj (he only does this once). BTW.. this song sounds so much better when the high E string is tuned to D#.
@robertdraco84045 жыл бұрын
Hey...isn't the second last chord in the song at the very end changed into a minor or something?.....Whatever it is it is a subtle but important little effect to finish the song on.

My one issue with the video is the fact that you assume that we already have a pre existing knowledge of the lyrics and structure. I personally struggle with loosely defined strumming patterns, and without knowing the exact amount of measures to play a chord it becomes a little fuzzy, especially when there isn't a clear play through. Just my opinion. Otherwise, the description of the chords and tuning was very helpful. Thank you!
