How to play Yu-Gi-Oh! 1) Read the rule book 2) Look into the deck you want to build 3) Look up all the rulings on the cards you are playing to be sure you understand how they work 4) Look up other decks you may see so you can side(if you don't know what others may be playing, just go generic and play flood gates like mask of restrict, light/dark imprisoning mirror, ex.) 5) Watch out for sharks when trading 6) Track the card market 7) Watch out for rule sharks 8) NEVER leave you're stuff alone, it will walk off 9) Leave your salt at the door 10) Repeat these steps every format 11) Enjoy XD

True but I think everyone should. I've read the rule book through a bunch of times. Everyone should because I'm tired of telling people things in the rules. Dudes trying to play cards on the damage step and stuff. They just don't know how to play and blame it on "bull shit rulings" like really...??

@VixXstazosJOB
@VixXstazosJOB 7 жыл бұрын
well they kinda Should lol, english wasn't even my first language back then in the day of 02'ish and i learned most of the game by simply reading it, specially the Battle Steps, this usually causes the most conflict among most veteran - or hell even Pros - players, by simply seeing the turn diagram most questions or doubts are clearly resolved, so all that is left would be many card rullings
@BakuraRyou867
@BakuraRyou867 7 жыл бұрын
VixXstazosJOB sometimes. I've been playing a long time though. I've seen a lot of shit in my day. I'm what you'd call an Elder of this game. We've been playing since the start. Rule sharks don't aways follow the rules of rulings, if they think you don't know stuff they'll screw you over. Once a few years back I was dueling and he thought I was new, I wasn't, so I set a monster and he tried to warning it. He tried to sell to me that setting was the same as a normal. It's clearly stated that setting it not the same in the rule book. He was really to fight me until I pulled out a rule book and said we could just look it up. He was trying to rule shark me. If I was new I could of been tricked my this. That's why you need to read the rule book.

I've been collecting Yu-Gi-Oh! for 3-4 years but I never knew on how to play. This was informative. Last night I've but the starter deck of Yugi Muto reloaded that came with 49 common cards and 1 ultimate rare. That 1 card was Dark Magician. The whole deck is mostly Spellcaster and darks. I've added some other darks like Red Eyes Darkness Dragon. I want mines to be strong enough to win my first match. Also it's sad that I don't know on how to play and I'm 18 years old.

Great video and straight to the point! I just tried to play for the first time yesterday. My friend gave me a pendulum deck. It was very confusing and it looks like most people I've seen so far don't like using that type of deck. Then I watched this video. It sounds almost exactly like Magic (which I already know) except for a few differences. Not as hard as I thought, though I'm sure it gets more complicated with special cards.

I never really tried learning how to play card games like Yu-Gi-Oh! because I thought they were really complicated. However, after watching some episodes from the original show as well as videos on KZbin, I kind of sparked a little bit of an interest in the game. I can't really say that I would take part in tournaments or anything like that, but I would definitely consider learning the rules if I ever get bored and want to have a simple match with a friend.

for synchro summoning you need 1 tuner monster and 1 or more non tuner monster on the field. You tribute them to summon a synchro monster from your extra deck that has a level equal to the combined levels of the tributed monsters( tribute one level 1 tuner and two level 4 non tuner monster for a level 9 synchro monster for example or one level 4 tuner and one level 4 non tuner for a level 8 synchro monster). For xyz summoning you 2 monsters with the same level on the field. To summon a xyz monster you overlay the 2 monsters and summon a xyz monster from your extra deck that has a rank equal to the level of either monster by putting it over the overlayed monsters( overlay two level 4 monsters for one rank 4 xyz monster for example)

pendulum summon is basically cheating but legal.

what is a good deck to start with for synorcho and xyz?
@floricel_112
@floricel_112 7 жыл бұрын
Well it's not a deck but more of a mechanic that works for both synchro and xyz summoning. Use a lot of level 4 effect monsters that allow you to special summon level 4 monsters from your hand, deck or even graveyard; tuner for synchro monsters and non tuner for xyz monsters. That way, you easily summon level 8 synchro monsters or rank 4 xyz monster and is a good way of getting into these 2 summoning methods. I also have a list of cards if you're interested.

Wait till we get to the part where you can legit have monsters in facedown attack position xD
@blitzcam

+Ashley Cunningham There is one card in Yugioh that does that. It's very confusing though as to how it works. I forgot though.
@ashleycunningham5383
@ashleycunningham5383 7 жыл бұрын
+Blitz Cam i know. i wasn't being sarcastic. It's called darkness approaches. 2 discard cost to change a card facedown, but don't change it's battle position. So if it was in face up attack position change it to facedown attack position. Pretty simple, but a mind break to people not use to it or card effects breaking basic yugioh rules. I use to use it in Empty Jar deck when morphing jar was still legal. Mill your opponents deck in one turn and reload your own. It was quite consistent and mildly competitive at the time.

I don't think you can summon in face-up defense. In the video game, you can't do that.

i now this is a joke.... but i actualy wish this would be a thing. Even judging by the animes i don't think hell would brake lose with brokness if we could do that for the IRL game.

I remember watching this back when it first came out, and I decided to rewatch it to see if it would be a good enough tutorial for a complete beginner to grasp the basics to construct an extremely simple deck. While most of the basics are in fact covered, one thing I wish was also included is tribute summoning, as with this video alone you could be made to believe you can straight up summon the Blue-eyes White Dragon.

You're using the absolute value notation incorrectly. |x| is the magnitude of x, regardless of sign, so it should be |2000-2100| = 100. But in any case it's much simpler to just write 2100-2000=100.

I used to play yu-gi-oh all the time as a kid because of the anime. My older brothers were both very into it, I wish I had kept my cards. I switched to MTG in my late teens and have been playing for a decade now. I've been watching a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh and MTG content creator collabs lately and that has been getting me back in to Yu-Gi-Oh. I love both games dearly and am excited to collect more cards. I went to a lgs recently and some very nice guys were helping me play Yu-Gi-Oha and teaching me how the "chain" works. Very cool dudes!

I inherited my nephew's 100 card collection when he outgrew them as a teen. In 2018, I found local game shops and added approx 1,000 cards on sale for pennies. Then bought sleeves and deck boxes because I REALLY like the art - and hoped to learn and teach my hubby to play. I LOVE games. Alas, hubby is only into playing games like Mechs vs Minions, Qwirkle, 500 Rummy, Mahjong, and Crazy Eights. During 2020 covid 19 lockdown, I'm now doing inventory of my collection, researching, sorting, and cataloging. So far, I managed to 'file' every card alphabetically in different colored UltraPro standard boxes based on Type. I think I like the sorting aspect!
