How To... Plot Multiple Data Sets on the Same Chart in Excel 2010

Watch this video if you have two or more data sets that you want to plot on the same chart. Even if you have two completely different scales, you can still show your data on a chart side-by-side.

Hi Nizar, I'm not sure what you want, but try the "Select Data" option and then use "Edit" to change axis titles (right click on chart area and click on Select Data from the Pop-up menu). Dr E.

My greatest learning is that my wish for multiple data sets v date, ALL of which have different unites of measure (and can't be converted (alas)), can't be done this way. Hi longlive218, Yes it is - in the Chart Tools - Layout ribbon you will see the "Axes" drop down menu where you can select to add a second horizontal axis. Dr E.

Thanks for your video - very helpful. What I don't understand in my own chart - and yours - is why the x-axis has numbers in it instead of the names of the months. My chart is for a school year - not a calendar year - so months would really be helpful!

Hi hamalawi55, I'm confused - if there is no data then there can be no chart? If you have the data say on another worksheet, you can always label each line. Right-click on a line and select "Add Data Labels" from the pop-up menu. That should work. Dr E.

What about with two set of numerical data with points like 0, 5, 6, 8, where there should be different spacing between points? Rather than months for instance
