Never fully remove lug nuts while the car is on the ground like you showed, just loosen them slightly before you jack the car up!

I know right? That's just basic knowledge.

My repair kit said to not turn the tools, just straight in and straight out. It worked great.

when pushing in the plug, stand directly over the tire straddling it. This will give you more weight/leverage on the handle and lets you effectively use both hands.

It’s $60-$70 dollars to get it fixed here so this was a life saver for the time being
@stinkycheese8043 жыл бұрын
You didn't shop around enough. $70 should only be if the whole tire is pulled off, patched inside, you used fix a flat so that needs cleaned out, then remounted and balanced.

Never use grease on a tire plug!
@izzykazoo75692 жыл бұрын
Why not?
@datsuntoyy2 жыл бұрын
@@izzykazoo7569 Grease doesn't seal nor does it let the string bond to the tire. It just makes it easy to slide in so you have an easier job.

The pressure of the air from inside the tyre will keep it in place.

Nice to know but if they're just putting a plug in like shown in the video rather than taking the tire off, it's hardly worth driving to them and back, would take more time than DIY unless you just happened to be passing by there anyway and had thought it was a good idea to keep driving on a punctured tire.
@mrkdavek Жыл бұрын
If you use a impact gun you don't need to leave the car on the ground to loosen the nuts. Just jack it off the ground and use the impact gun. All mechanics do it that way.

I use a battery powered drill with a 1/4 drill bit. Saves time.
@brian_youtube4 жыл бұрын
I would not do that. Using the hand reamer allows you to better feel the hole and the direction the nail or screw went in. This way your plug fills the existing hole vs removing more tire material than is needed.
@rickmeadows6864 жыл бұрын
Brian Zech I use a battery drill on every tire. You are incorrect....
@stinkycheese8043 жыл бұрын
and potentially makes the hole larger than it should be, increasing the chance of leaks. Plus, most of us don't want to buy a drill to leave in a vehicle for when it might be needed for that. Plus, it doesn't save any time at all, to have to go get the drill, have it keep it recharged, then put it back, compared to the few seconds, as shown in the video, to merely do it by hand. Slackers!

What to do if plug leaks, and can't get it out?
@grokshop3 жыл бұрын
I've never actually had that issue, but in that case I would think you would need to re-ream & repair it with the tire repair glue which is not in this kit, unfortunately. But its available separately.
@datsuntoyy2 жыл бұрын
cuss and kick the tire. Then go inside and have a drink while you cool off. Come back out and work at it some more. Try using the install tool to push the plug inside the tire. It's light enough it shouldn't mess with balance of the tire.
