I'm the same.. I've used plugs for years. I have a few plug patches.. it's like a patch with a long stem in the center; and you push the plug outward from inside the tire.. So inside the tire it looks like a regular patch, but outside it has the plug sticking out. They work great for larger holes like this one you have. But the regular plugs almost always work, so I've rarely had to use them. I've even used plugs in sidewalls and it actually lasted several months. Plugs are legit, no doubt about it.
