Around 6:00 you mention flatness for glue down. Is flatness as critical with glue and nail down engineered wood floor? Or primarily for floating floors? Great video
@MrYoucandoityourself6 ай бұрын
In this video, I tried to explain how important to make a level for floating system installation instead of nailing down and gluing down. Because glue and nails hold the floor, floating floors don't have that advantage.

What’s best practice if you cannot grind down the humps? Do your best to flatten low spots up to hump?
@MrYoucandoityourself10 ай бұрын
Hi, very interesting question! Depends how big area you have to level. Sometimes I do leveling up to hump, sometimes grind hump down to minimize expenses like here - Leveling Wood Floor With Straight Edge MrYoucandoityourself kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpqVo4GHqKqGmMU

Always want to aim for 3/4" aka 23/32. Try and aim for plywood as OSB is the style that is usually installed these days but it is a horrendous project to tackle with the tongue and groove option that comes with them. I switched half way through a project and had to come to watch this video. I'm just going to use a angle grinder with a stone wheel and try to get it in a reasonable ball park.

For a small room is it possible to use a small orbital sander with 40 or 60 grit sandpaper?

I love watching all of your videos and admire your knowledge and experience! You are also a very good teacher! Hopefully you can provide some advice. I am a total DIY newbie and used self-leveler for the first time. I didn’t mix the whole bag and it ended up being too thick and did not self-level. I tried sanding it down, but it still left some noticeable humps. I got stuck as to how to correct it and wanted to keep working on my project so I ended up laying down my flooring anyway since my planks allow for 1/4 inch leeway. Would a hand planer level out the material? Well, the problem is, I have a herringbone pattern and it’s not so easy to pull up the tiles. How would you suggest I remedy this situation?? Or is it too late and I have to live with my mistakes? 😭

I dont know why you would go through all that work , its a floating floor with no nails required, and also with laminate flooring installation you always put the quarter inch foam down , i just think your tactic here would be reasonable for hardwood not laminate.

Hi Scot, this spot was to high, and the best way - cut it down.For each situation I am using different technics. Also I got few questions, why I always doing concrete leveling over plywood, and if it's possible show how to make it with plywood shits. Here it is! Thanks for your question!
