Also works on motorcycle helmet visors.. that being said, I just learned a "secret" trick: when cleaning your glider don't use a sponge and a leather (unless it's really dirty, then use this before), but instead a batch of cotton wool with liquid wax to remove bugs. It's awesome! Works great when there are only about 20 bugs per wing. For more, clean first, then do a quick wipe down with the wax and remove all left overs.

Cool. 👍 My dad always taught me not to rub in circles because he said it puts swirls in the window and is drilling deep sort of like a hand towel drill bit, but then we never were using soft German cloth either. 😏

oof! That new sliding window track looks fantastic! Nicely done! I humbly recommend a dual action polisher! This will make application and removal one simple step (aside from a basic final wipe off). It also will not ever heat up the surface it is polishing or induce holograms from finger tips or hands. Research what we call "paint correction" in the USA and UK for automobile paint polishing. Look up AMMO NYC Paint Correction. It's the same process, but with obviously different polishes for the different surfaces. This makes quick work of the outside of the canopy AND the gelcoat or Poly. The only downside is you need a very small polisher for the inside of the canopy (due to the inside curve) which can increase heat, so use light pressure and low speed with smaller pads. Very simple. One last thing: when polishing by hand *always always* use multiple layers of the cloth material or else you will leave behind unseen "love swirls" or holograms from your finger pressure. They will appear when the wax breaks down. So again, use multiple layers of clothe and a flat palm to spread the force of the application and removal. Be sure to continuously switch to fresh removal cloths. Cheers from Florida, USA!

Hi JS, I am so impressed by your speaking English. You now sound like an Englisher. I have always wanted to hear your “What I loved about her” video on the Libelle in English. Would it be possible for you to dub over the current video? Then you would have two videos. One German and one English. Twice the viewers. Nice work. Thanks.

I was taught when polishing a canopy to NOT make circles, but to polish in straight lines forward and backward, followed by 90* side to side, finishing up with forward to backward in line with the fuselage. Looks like you had a good result anyway though.

Hi JS, thx again, this video is very valuable. I wanted to do it on the Clubs gliders but the only tips i found were for scratches in aquariums. They did it with sand paper. I also asked in other clubs and nobody knew about this (Or didn't want to tell me). So i didn't dare to get visual distortion. But this looks really like a soft approach. Did you also work on the interieur side of the canopy? How long was the work time for one canopy?
@julietsierra3 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, thanks for your question! I did the inside as well, but it’s not easy to turn the canopy over and secure it without causing scratches on the outside. I used a soft mattress covered with a clean cotton sheet. Probably there is a more comfortable solution for this...
@julietsierra3 жыл бұрын
I recommend to start with one half of the canopy so the process doesn’t take too long and the polish doesn’t dry out too much and you can estimate the time better :)

@@julietsierra Thx. Our worst canopy got destroyed on a tow, it wasn't secured properly. So we know the difference between new and old. I think we are all looking forward to see the (re-)finished LS4 and nice pictures without scratches in the canopy.

Kleiner Tipp um die Sache noch zu perfektionieren: Du könntest Polyamidschrauben für die Fensterschienen verwenden, damit verringerst Du das Risiko von Rissen an den Bohrungen.

You need to be careful with polishing, it is better to give it to professionals. Or it is better to practice on something else.
@Fukenbumen3 жыл бұрын
I've done this once myself with a different polish but it made the canopy very statically charged and attracting a lot of dust. I basically had to wash the canopy again afterwards. I'm also curious if and how you did the inside of the canopy because that's a much harder job.
