Welcome back to the channel! In this video i briefly go over one way ( not the only way) to polish the stainless moldings for your classic car. This process can be done completely by hand, or you can use different sanders and buffers to achieve excellent results. Hope you enjoy, thanks for watching!

Nice information on the use of the DA and different sandpapers. Funny how the NOS stuff looked, but as long as it worked out for you it's good. I have the same kind of buffer and it can do some great work and it can be a Evil machine if you do not pay attention all the time you are using it

Thanks Ed ...yes if you are paying attention u can easily add 2 hours of work when polishing or worse ruin the part. Btw the pickles are really good!

Yup, did all my interior aluminum, took dents and dings out, and polished. 1 also did outside stainless, same process just longer due hardness

I just took off the front clip on my 64. You continue to put out great content and inspire me to restore all of the trim on the front clip myself. Thanks for the video.

Some of that trim is aluminum, the anodized coating needs to be stripped first. I have a seat trim video where I explain that

Mornin Kenny, Hreg from Detroit. Are those polishing wheels for buffer a certain kind? Standard? Great great work and absolutely helpful

There are a big variety of buffing wheels. Some are coarse and some are fine. A spiral sewn wheel is kind of middle of the road

Thanks for the video. I bought new slowdowns and motor bands for my set up. Do you need to sand new parts or can I go straight to buffing/polishing?
@lonestarlows
@lonestarlows 8 ай бұрын
Could probably go straight to buffer

LS do you have video on putting window felt back outside door trim for a 64
@lonestarlows
@lonestarlows Жыл бұрын
No I dont think so. But its easy. Just use staples for the same holes that had the staples from the factory

i hand wet sanded all my pieces from 220 to 5k. they came out polished like chrome but i can still see scratches all across it. Can't feel any scratches whatsoever, but you can still see a bunch of sanding striations....at my wits end with it. Spent more than half a day on one piece- at this was the flattest piece you could get. the green and white compound cant seem to get this mild scratches out- im using an eastwood 1/2hp buffer with spiral and loose cotton after ive gotten up to 5k- any help would be appreciated!

My advice would be don't beat yourself up too much. I'm sure the patt looks good and no one will notice what you are seeing. If they do tell them to piss off

Where can I get a set of the hammers to take the dents out on trim, I think you used them on the other video on seat pieces
@lonestarlows
@lonestarlows Жыл бұрын
Yes, eastwood sells, or ebay. The hammer is very light weight. Just minor taps needed to work a dent. Patience is key
