I always hold the body by a post with vise-grips. Heat is good when polishing. Pros preheat aluminum to get a good polish.

Excellent tips and work. (I'm not even a toy car collector yet find these restoration videos entertaining. That said, who knows? Maybe one day I'll do a few special cars for my thirty-year-old son and future grand kids, or commission someone else to do them instead.)

Would a rotary rock tumbler work to polish car bodies ? My guess is the vibratory tumbler would work best , but the noise level is an issue for me .

J Recio Yes but it Takes A VERY long time, so you can use fine sandpaper
