I'm concerned because leg popping if not done right will damage your knees. You can't just push your knee backwards. You have to use the right muscles otherwise you will get injured. When I started leg popping (not from this video) my knee started to hurt because I was still getting used to activating the right muscles. This guy doesn't even mention anything about that.

hey there, i'ma beginner. could you elaborate on this comment? when doing this i had the same thought, and it didn't really make sense to just, snap your knee backwards. not good. haha, thank you!

@@naughtadacy3416 Hey, if you're still wondering, I'll explain. Have you ever seen a side kick in Taekwondo or Karate? Believe it or not, that's basically how you do the backwards popping. So to do it, instead of just pushing your knee back, imagine you're kicking your heel into the ground. You're focusing your energy downwards into your heel, and your knee pops back as a result - it's not just putting your energy into your knee and pushing it back. If you do the latter, you will get hurt. Hope this helps let me know if you need more clarification :)

@@naughtadacy3416 You're welcome! it also helps if you practice this movement sitting down with your leg out, and then try it standing up once you've got the hang of it. When you do the move it also helps if you shift your weight to that leg, and have your knee at a slight bend. Steezy has a good video showing how to do it. It's tricky to do at first, but you can do it with practice!

hello guy's i'm popping dancer and this moves are form beginners because popping be dangerous sometimes like break dance or other styles but guy's if you wanna learn popping start with this tips than try to not move your leg try to do a block than relax this is the right move it's the same as the hands

can i ask a question first of all i know nothing about dance so my question will probably sound stupid but im soooooooooo curious: when we are popping our arms, to not to harm them instead of hitting elbows to the outsides we bend them to the insides right? so why are we hitting our knees like that? Isnt is harmful?

Ur not going to harm your leg but if you feel pain please stop. There is a second option of popping the legs where you can pop it out. I was just showing you the basics that everyone uses for the arms and legs.

If s'one doesn't feel the difference between: 1) pulling the muscles up when you want to almost ''straighten'' the leg and 2) just pushing the knee backwards (which is very bad for the knees) doing this tutorial.. they might hurt their knees.. not the best thing for beginners.. its better to start leg popping the other way where the pop is when you bend the knee..
