How to Powder coat and what powder coating gun to use in your garage or home shop. An inexpensive but decent Powder coating gun is the Eastwood Dual voltage set up.
Utilizing some simple tools that can all be acquired for a reasonable low price..We will be covering some pro tips as well as some step by step instructions on the powder coating process.
Be sure to check out my Giveaway video and enter before the end of this week. I am giving away a lot of cool welding related tools, etc.
Always be as safe as possible in the shop and make sure you wear gloves, eye protection as well as a respirator when powder coating.
some sort of ventilation to evacuate any left over powder in the air is smart. Yes i have a beard and the respirator I am wearing isn't a perfect seal but it is much better than doing this with no protection.
My name is Brad and on this channel we will be discussing welding related content, tips and tricks, shop talk as well as How to's and DIY stuff. If it all interested be sure to like this video as well as subscribe!
As always I greatly appreciate everyone support and I cant thank you enough! Below will be some links to some of the stuff used in this video today.

I thought this was a good video and it definitely inspired me. I thought something that would have really sealed it would be examples once you were done teaching. You hinted at it with the still at the beginning of the video with that one still, but you didn't show it at the end. Additionally, the still at the beginning with its multi-colors showed the results of a technique you didn't reveal. Lastly, what about all the colors and finishes we can use? Not only didn't you talk about colors, I've heard of chrome finish (I think) and that's something that could use some explaining. You have a great teaching technique. Please think about a part 2 on this with some of those ideas. Thank you!

One last comment: I powder coated my first set of wheels for my Jeep by building an oven in my backyard out of cement blocks and and old heater element I had. I built a stand for the rims to sit on and covered it with a piece of sheet metal. I used a dollar tree electric thermometer and hung my parts on the kids swing set to coat them. My point is; be creating. I didn’t have an oven big enough for rims and I didn’t really want one. It worked great. That was seven years ago and the wheels still look new! Thanks for the pro tips. If I could add one it would be to make sure you have a really good ground. The guns use the electrical ground, but a lot of shops aren’t well grounded. Add a ground rod to your shop or house; it never hurts

I know this is an older post, but this is very helpful. I have a big job coming up. Taking the shell, flooring, etc off of a 1974 31 foot Airstream camper. Making sure the frame is in good shape. If needed I will weld on the pieces that need to be. Clean up the frame and then powder coat it. This is the big money maker for Airstreams. Many are over 40 years old. Who wants to take their chances on a rusted out frame? If you can fix up the frame, axles, etc., show and prove that the work on it has been done then the prices increases a lot on these things.

Cool video! I started with a toaster over I got from a thrift store for $5. While building a CJ5 I needed a bigger oven so I built one out of an old oven and old highway signs. Then I needed an oven for longer parts and I used an old school locker. I powder coated parts for the friend who gave me the signs and oven. He shows cars and we did a lot of parts for his 69’ Cameo. Word got around and now I make a few hundred bucks a month coating parts for people. I never intended to have three ovens, and to make money off of it. It’s a fun hobby and it gives me fun money I don’t have to tell my wife about! Thanks for the vid! It’s a great intro!

Very nice presentation. One question. You mention 15-20 psi to the gun. Another You tuber used the Eastwood gun and said to use only 7-8 pounds with the canister half full. Anymore pressure and you can pop the canister off. Can you clarify?
@hourglassingenuity103
@hourglassingenuity103 4 жыл бұрын
Dancing Bear that’s definitely false information.. the gun is regulated, I’ve ran 30-40 psi through it when I didn’t know what I was doing and I never had those problems.. the hopper doesn’t hold pressure. It would automatically vent. Just adjust pressure until you get a nice fine mist out of the nozzle.. there is a ton of room for error. You’ll know when it’s laying on nice and not too aggressive.

jwolff9153 I’ve done a lot of powder coating and I’ve never needed to preheat parr’s unless the faraday effect came into play on a tight inside radius of filler.

Soooooo 1/4 is bigger than 1/5. So you mean it needs to be a fifth to a quarter full. Not a quarter to a fifth.

Dumb. The music and "special effects" were an annoying distraction. If I want music I';ll watch a music video. If I want clear concise technical information then that's all I want from an instructional video. Useless.
