Very smart solution to power. I also had contemplated batter bank but found that a single batter would not be enough for my demands if I wildcamped numerous days.
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
I really have found this one to be a quality investment toward the van and the future. It has made it where I no longer have to run my van when I am at campsites which is really bad for the battery. This solution also allows me to take the power out of the van and over to a picnic table for working at campsites, which is really amazing!! mobile power is the way to go!!

As an NV 200 and Jackery 1000 owner… I can say this video was very well done. Great explanations and demonstrations. I have Jackery solar panels. They are by far the best in the business (easy to clean, carry, and store). Cables stowed on the solar panel so won’t lose them. No metal briefcase to burn yourself on in the sun. Start with a charged Jackery, plug the solar panels in, plug the laptop in, work all day. Jackery will still be near full charge at the end of the day. Next morning you can put the solar panel on the dash of the van, plug the Jackery into it, go play for a few hours, and the Jackery will be topped off nicely. Worth every penny.

I am definitely picking up a panel!!! I have been so satisfied with the product that they made me a true believer.... I have a rigid panel which eventually I hope to install for driving charging, but the Jackery panel being able to be moved around and directionalized was a big draw to me. I don't see me making it through the end of the month without ordering one!!

I agree with the generator statement. My RV has a small generator and it is loud. I prefer not to use it and in fact opted to add solar to my rig with batteries under one of my bench seats that I wasn't otherwise using for storage. I am happy you found this solution for your ongoing power struggles. It is a great suggestion and I might consider it for the portability as a back up source. Thank you young lady for again being so detailed in your explanation and helping me discover something worth pondering.

I first bought the Jackery 240, then the Jackery 1000. I also have 300 watts of solar on my roof and an Iceco fridge. Recently, I finally got off the proverbial fence and bought a small window AC and decided on portable solar panels (not a generator) from BALDR instead of the Jackery brand after watching several videos. This brand is more affordable and just as good. It's able to charge multiple brands of power stations, including the Jackery. I have multiple pets. We have been on the road for two years, sometimes in the sweltering heat and not able to park in the shade due to my solar panels on the roof! Now, we can camp in warm climates if necessary AND park in the shade and still have power by setting my portable solar panels in the sun. I just opened the box today and I'm so excited to start using it to charge my Jackery that powers my AC so that my FIVE little furkids and I can be more comfortable! Woo hoo! Nice and fun video, BTW!
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
That is smart to make those choices as you go for them and yourself!!! I always tell people that finding the things that work for them might not always be the same as the next person so it is important to know our individual needs and also that of the fur kids 😁
@petmom743 жыл бұрын
@@BunnyPlaysHere exactly. I don't want the climate in a certain place to dictate where we go or how long we stay anymore than it already does. When we first started out the van broke down within the first few hours! We were stuck in a parking lot at a Love's in the full sun for a day and a half before we could get towed to a garage! It was 101 degrees inside the van with three fans and my Maxxair on exhaust! We've baked in the sun on several occasions after that. Mama says, "No more!"

@@Dracenea I really wanted to get something that could go for a few days should i get stuck without sunlight. With this I can do a lot of different things and it more than covers me. With my current fridge my power demands are about 55 watts per hour on the high side so I needed to keep that in mind when i was factoring my usage, the 1000 just made more sense long term. I would definitely suggest looking at what you will be personally powering and doing a little math with your needs requirements it is very insightful in determining.

I have been giving some thought on purchasing something like this for some time now. So I have to ask if a person was not using one of these to charge a laptop which appears to be the energy hog of devices, would say the Jackery 500 watt be sufficient to maybe be used to charge an I phone 8 daily as well as run a strip of LED lights inside the van at night for a few hours along with a small fan for back country camping for a week or so??
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
For regular devices yes! I will also be charging a couple other things which is why I opted for the larger long term. But the smaller would do great for less demanding items!

Do different Jackerys use different solar panels? In other words, if you start with a small Jackery + panels and later upgrade to a larger Jackery, will you be able to use the same solar panels?
@gusbassil64233 жыл бұрын
Have you considered a static panel? I can see value in something which is able to gather constant sunlight.
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
I will eventually be looking into a static panel for my roof, but I first have to add a roof rack both of which will be an expense so I opted to get the foldable panel first because I can use it anywhere I am by directionalizing it. which is awesome!!

That is the learning curve when it comes to any kind of power stations… I have a few things that I really wanted to use while I was on the road and then tested them and it was a Knogo LOL but you learn to find alternatives that will work and I think that is the cool part.

I looked at the smaller one, it is actually not a bad price for something at home. Do you think it could run a small heater?
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
Heaters are tricky because they pull a lot of power. Instead of a heater I would look into a low watt car electric blanket if you are using this for a back up to home power for weather.

This question may make it abundantly clear that I am technologically challenged. I noticed you plugged your drone battery into the Jackery in the 110 AC outlet. Does it draw the same amount of watts if you were to remove the USB to AC adapter and plug into the USB port directly? Im trying my best to learn about Watts and amps but when I read all I get is blah blah de blah-baddy blah. I read some where that inverters use battery power as soon as they are turned on whether anything is plugged into them or not. Is that the case with the Jackery too? Thanks!!! Jo
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
Great questions!!! I have noticed that Jackery does not start pulling until I actually turn on the button and furthermore will not fully start working until you select your ac or dc option. I have left something plugged in before and forgot to turn on the dc button only to realize it didn't charge at all...lol. oops... The batteries I have run pretty true no matter which side I plug them into. The drone does pull a bit more when it is full dead but only by a couple of watts, so not a deal breaker. There is a rapid charge usb also and that does change the amount of watts used when utilizing that one but only because it is basically supercharging your device. I sometimes use that for my phone when I don't have long to get it fully charged and it cuts my charging time down considerably. However that does double the watts used typically. I hope that was helpful :)
@jcrefasi13 жыл бұрын
@@BunnyPlaysHere yes! Thanks! I probably can get by with the smallest Jackery as I use my phone for everything. My laptop quit accepting a charge and it was barely a year old. I doubt I'll replace it.
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
@@jcrefasi1 That is no fun. I had that happen with my old laptop and it ended up being my charging cable... but then it had an issue later with the battery itself, so frustrating. With only a cell phone yes, the smaller Jackery would work extremely well. :)

I looked at these but couldn't determine which one would be best for my needs starting out. How did you determine which one.
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
For me it was a matter of having more power for longer term in general wether I was just using my normal things or if I had the items which aren't currently in the van. I used the information on Jackery's website to determine which would work for that longer. I knew I was going to be staying in the middle of nowhere a lot more often in the van so finding something to work with that was important.

I have seen several comments about this being good for home use. Would you recommend it for that?
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
Most definitely!! It is very efficient and helpful in the case of having a power failure so it is a good thing to have for a little peace of mind. Also you can take it with you outdoors for a little boost when you need it. This is great for running lights outdoors.

For my personal needs currently the 1000 is great.. however if you are planning on being off grid longer then consider the 1500.

I'm so trying to research solar, not yet full on, and I'm just not sure what size I need to get in one of these contraptions LOL, do you happen to know how many watts appliances can it run? Unfortunately I have Memaw brain 🧠 hahaha. Just not as bright as I use to be 💡. I'm going to see on their website. 💕
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
Each appliance uses a different amount. The main thing you want to consider is anything with heat will pull more initially. For example my small electric kettle uses 500-600 watts just to start.. but it only takes a few moments to heat the water .. still in that time with the explorer 1000 I lose about 3-6 % for every use. Laptop pulls anywhere between 40 and 80 watts.... fridge is actually one of the more efficient appliances pulling about 30 watts when it cycles and only 2 watts when running standard... the key is to looking for your devices and seeing if they have a facts sheet..

@@BunnyPlaysHere Great information. I can't say how much I truly appreciate that you respond & answer to comments & questions. You are a rock star 🌟 in the KZbining Van/RV life world 🌎!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!

I contacted Jackery to ask them if they could tell me if one could get enough sun with one of the solar panels inside the cabin, across the seat or dash from indirect sunlight to get any charging at all. Unfortunately they thought I already owned one and thought I was asking about a problem charging, so I didn't find out the answer. I don't plan to do it here in Florida in the middle of summer, but it would be handy to leave at least one of the panels charging on the seat or dash, when one is out exploring in less hot conditions, but you want to keep it locked up while you're not around the van. Much as it would be great if you could leave it outside charging up while away, I get a feeling someone might help themselves to it. Do you happen to know the answer? Thanks! And if not, thanks.
@BunnyPlaysHere3 жыл бұрын
I have tested this using the panel in my dash when I am parked for a while. I managed to get plenty of sun to charge it. It does get pretty hot though so that isn't ideal for the dash itself. As for what you were mentioning about someone helping themselves... that is always a concern when unattended. I usually make sure all the big stuff is behind my curtain and unable to be seen, the cord for the Jackery itself is long enough to place it in the back so it is doable....
@rexwine3 жыл бұрын
@@BunnyPlaysHere Thanks! That will mitigate some of the advantage people who mount outdoor panels on their roof have which is what I was hoping to do. One day, I may buy some roof mounted panels, but this will do fine.
