I believe that having the ability to execute a controlled powerslide is more than to impress your friends, it is just another tool in your skill set to have control of the bike at all times and also to be able to regain control when things may start to get a bit dodgy. When dirt riding the environment and situations change very quickly and can result in needing these skills.

Seen many videos on power sliding ,nothing is as juicy as this one, no other video tells you better than this, enjoyed it and a soon as I finish typing this, I would be on my bike, the Triumph Tiger 800, trying this stuff out !!

Absolutely top tutorial! The most important To make it a great power slide, not a good power slide but a great power slide ...You’ve got to check back over your shoulder the skid mark :) :) :) :) So fun!

i once accidentally did a power slide on a downhill turn. i came in a bit too fast & stepped on the rear brake too hard. then i slide the bike for about 3 meters. because i have experienced numerous rear wheel locking scenario, i was calm enough to maintain control of my front wheel. morale of the day is remember to ride within your limitations & ride responsively. but, man, the feeling of a power slide is just AWESOME.

Dude, not trying to burst your bubble but... What you discribed was a semi controlled skid! And what the video teaches isn't a powerslide. It's a peelout with a little turn thrown in for... Some reason. Now, if that floats your boat cool. But don't get into a conversation with experienced cyclist's and claim to know how to powerslide. If you really want to see true powersliding watch a video on "Speedway" racing and ive grabbed a semi tutorial on such to offer in peace. If it loads. If not just KZbin "Speedway racing" Ride safe, Steve

Finally an easy to understand video on how to powerslide. Good stuff guys, also the other video on slide turn. Are you based in the Mediterranean by any chance? That location where you filmed the video looks familiar, is it around Tarragona by any chance? Cheers from Barcelona.

Does abs matter while doing power slides ? I’m planning to get tiger 850 which doesn’t have switchable abs but it has switchable traction control I wonder will it effect doing power slides

It would have been helpful to address what changes are required for bikes with ABS. Some bikes ABS can’t be deactivated, so how do you compensate for this. Other bikes have several settings, on, off, front on and back off...so, which setting do you recommend? Same for bikes with traction control. My KTM actually makes these manoeuvres really easy because it senses when the back gets too out of shape, it’s brilliant. I think BMW will get to that level one day :)

Well first of all dont stand so straight up and stiff on your handle bars for one dude sliding like hes nervous to slide out and fall power thru your turn. Keep your normal seated position or standing postion and let your bike slide keep your center of gravity and stay loose you stay up right like that dude your going to hit a rut and go flying highside on that bike. Then you can feel how to drift your body in the dirt/street which is not nearly as fun as drifting the bike.

Maybe some info on ABS (stops the wheel from locking up) and Traction Control (will prevent the drift) maybe useful, also - the only reason for power sliding is to impress your mates!! I do it because I like to do it and don't care what anyone else thinks.

Needed more explanation of how to initiate the turn (left or right), which I suspect it's done by shifting your butt AND your weight. And the video footage should point it out. Plus it should mention turning off ABS. A little disappointed, but thanks.

And become a more skilled better rider, that enjoys riding even more... 🤔 Do you find stunt riders amazing? Or the skill and speed of MotoGP riders? None of that happens without a little risk, a lot practice and the occasional crash. If we want to to do these thing it should be okay. If people want to learn on their bikes and take that risk, that should be allowed. 😊

Conversely, buy a bike worth thousands of dollars, don't use any of its potential and just sit in front of your computer criticising people who are enjoying riding their bikes. On the other hand, you could Google 'British sense of humour'.
