In some cases I think bulk would be easier, but I'm not good at cutting yet. Either I cut too deep or don't cut deep enough. I never get it to squeak. I wouldn't mind buying a plotter, but the cost of the software would be too much. Thanks for taking the time to create the video, I know it's hard work.

I'll add a link at the bottom of this comment. What brand blades are you using. I only recommend OFLA. I've tested aftermarket blades without much success. Stick to OLFA. Yeah i went to the 3m distributitor and only wanted to buy bulk Even though I'm not very experienced at cutting that was only 16 a metre or something Instead He just said yeah Come round and had pre-cut it made me feel obligated To buy it and charge me ninety dollars Just because he's fancy machine cut it out. Didn't rate that part of the experience but I thought what you said too perhaps having a large bit might actually be easier except the cutting accurate part after 😂

You should have told him. 👍🏻 I would have just given them to you at the bulk price at that point. He only would have been out a little time at that point. That's his mistake for not being clear about what you wanted. No big deal. 😁

Thanks for the content, I’ve watched a few of your videos. My headlights are yellowed and dulled on my 02’ Sierra so I’m planning on sanding and buffing them out before installing this. What ppf do you use. Any issues with installing this on freshly buffed housings? What are the two sprays you are using? Thanks!

We buff out headlights a lot and then install PPF right over them so they do not go bad again. We install SunTek Ultra and Filink PPF. Great products. We can sell you bulk or precut Filink PPF.

Yes. Are you talking about cutting things short while using the transfer tape to make a pattern? The reason for that is because the installation of the ppf is going to require a little stretch. If we don't cut the pattern a little short, it will be hanging over the edge. 😁👍🏻

We just changed out our soap a week ago. We are now using "seventh generation" dish soap. It is available almost everywhere. CVS, Walmart, Target... So far, I'm at about 6ml per gallon. I think the range is between 4-8ml depending on shop temp and how long you need the material to be workable without pretacking. 👍🏻

I could use a little more info on the pretack marks. Are they where you are stretching to, or are they where you stretched from? Are they small silver areas or work marks in the adhesive? Do you need a lot of tack solution around your stretch areas? My guess is that you are overusing your tack solution because your slip solution has too much soap in it.

It's called transfer tape. You can find it almost anywhere you can buy vinyl.

Hmmm.... good question. 🤔 What kind of car are you thinking about PPFing the headlights on? I think it really depends on the difficulty of the headlight. On this vehicle, it's easier to draw it out and make a stencil. But on something like a Toyota Tundra, I don't think a stencil would be helpful.

Those headlights will require some stretching. Nothing crazy though. Pretty straightforward. I would definitely just bulk those or install a kit. I would not try making a template with transfer tape. 👍🏻

@@EncorePPFtint I’m doing the job now and I’m having this tiny air bubbles with the slip solution trapped underneath can I use my knife to poke holes to let them out, should try my best to get them and leave the rest, or should I just take the film off and do it over again?

@jacksonmontgomery6716 it's very easy to leave water behind. I would leave small water bubbles. They will dry out just fine. Big water bubbles will dry with air pockets left under the PPF. Then you can pop the air bubbles with a syringe. 👍🏻 You can also pop the water bubbles with the syringe.

Good question. I would leave them in. It's so much harder to stretch the material into place and squeegee the water out when they aren't attached to the vehicle. They slide all over the place, and it's a real headache! 😁👍🏻

Is this any special ppf for headlights like we’ve got for windshield or is it regular ppf which is used on painted pannels? Can we use regular ppf which is used to protect paint on headlights and if it is the same then how does heat from headlights effect the longevity of the ppf ? Really curious. Thanks!

You are correct. It is the same PPF that is used on the paint. In all my years, I've never seen PPF have any issues with the heat from headlights. I'd guess that the film has to put up with way more heat from a 100-degree day and the heat on a hood. 👍🏻 From time to time, I have seen issues with high power/heat fog lights (very rare). The Paint Protection Film will turn black. My best guess is that the film is getting too hot and as the fog lights get mist and dirty water on them from the road, it instantly dries on the PPF and stains it. In that case, just remove the PPF, and you'll be good to go.

Interesting. I wonder why they say not to use alcohol 🤔. I've been using rubbing alcohol on headlights with PPF since 2004 without an issue. Seriously, no issues. 🤷🏻‍♂️ My solution is mixed at a ratio of 20% rubbing alcohol to 80% water.

Also, if you don't want to use alcohol, just use straight water. That will woodland well also. 👍🏻
