I watched your videos about chords in the first week of my piano practice, and I am ever so grateful for your help. Glad to see you are back...this was below my pay grade, but I felt nostalgic.

I have the feeling that this is one of your most useful videos yet. Thanks, mate! I need to get a bit more behind the theory here but I can see where all of this is going. Nick Cave's Wide lovely eyes is a great example to practice chord in their inversions because you do wonderful things with just G - C - D.

Glad it was helpful and yes some amazing music can be created with just a few simple chords, more complex harmony is great but certainly not always need for everything

I'm so glad I watched this video. I thought it was too basic, since I've been practicing like this for a while. I happened to watch your video on forming scales and I made lots of progress right away. It is really the best method I've seen on You Tube. But your tip of moving up the scale using inversions is something I hadn't thought of doing yet. Brilliant. Merci beaucoup.

My mind is blown! As a guitarist that's used to moving the same around the fretboard, this approach uses a similar logical approach. Less thinking about specific notes and moreso about which chords youre on relative to the root!

Appreciate your free info but could you do a video on the inversions of the five main jazz chords and how to quickly move from one to another as if playing a tune as that is the killer for me. Thanks.

I do have major scale videos on the channel, the C major one (learn that first) has right, left and hands together in 3 videos and really breaks down to build up to playing it and getting your hands working together 🙂

I have a song where one of the notes I need to play is the La and Re of the Amaj scale. Is there a special fingering for this, or do i just put my thumb on the F and then my ring finger on the Bb like it's a Fmaj scale?

Yea practice as slow as you need and definitely use the building up method, just 1-2, then 1-3 eventually 1-7. That’s really helpful!

Another great video. Thank you! My only problem with this is fitting my fingers between the black keys! Is there anything I can do to help them fit? Thank you 😊
@PianoFromScratch3 жыл бұрын
Hi, it's easier to 'show' than explain in words but there's a couple of things to think about, firstly your positions and angle you come down at, but also, if you have tension and fingers are stiff or your pushing too hard, you're far more likely to cathc and pull down the unwanted notes as well as the one you're aiming for. Perhaps practice just individual fingers in that position to get a feel for the 'sweet spot' that works. Hope that helps a bit, will take some practice!

@@PianoFromScratch thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I'll try those ideas out. I think I've spent too much time playing things in the keyboard C? Just more practice needed! Thanks again for the help and keep up the good work 😊👍

Is there any chance you can make a video on how to record yourself playing piano I can’t find any good videos
@PianoFromScratch3 жыл бұрын
Maybe at some point, I'm not sure how many other subscribers would be interested though. Do you mean video record as well? Do you mean jus quicklyt so you can hear it back or like properly recorded with good sound etc? Also, real piano or digital?
@orangepiano49953 жыл бұрын
@@PianoFromScratch I was thinking real piano and good sound quality. I understand if it won't really interest your audience considering how you are helping beginner pianist. Whatever you want to do is fine idk I just feel that no one has made a clear and consise video about it.
@PianoFromScratch3 жыл бұрын
Ok well the standard thing is a stereo pair of microphones pointing inside the piano. You’ll need either a portable recorder or an interface to record into your computer. For good mic placement/choice etc, I’m sure there’s some audio engineering channels out there which can help you out in more detail. Good luck!

It’s been 2 months and I’ve been trying to play the same 10 second segment of a piece and can not. I don’t know why this is
@PianoFromScratch3 жыл бұрын
That's frustrating, we've all been there. What are you trying to learn? Is it perhaps just a bit too difficult for your current level? If so, it's much more effective and encouraging to build your skills with simpler things and getting them really solid. That way you're developing a good foundation from which to learn harder stuff in the future
