@Ggl Lab1 FWIW, saying it is pretty easy if you can pronounce Ecclesiastical Latin, Italian or Spanish, possibly the only tricky part (I know I'm a bit biased, ofc, but I do think the rest is pretty straightforward) is the "nh" diphthong, which is said just like the "gn" in Eccl. Latin/Italian :)

Thank you for sharing the most important thing as Catholics we can be doing during these time of times...pray as if souls (ours most certainly included) depended on our earnest effort. My dad, a dairy farmer in the 1960's, would come in for and while waiting to be called for lunch would daily kneel by his bed and pray the prayers of the Holy Mass in spiritual union with those said for the massive amount of farm work prevented the possibility to attend in person. My dad praying and working so hard for us his family made a deep impression on me my whole life....so pray dads pray... your example does not go unnoticed. Also if Priests must go into hiding we can still pray with them as a last resort.

Dr. Marshall thank you very much for the instruction. I am a recent listener to your channel. I really am catching up with your excellent videos on the Rosary and those covering important topics for the church. It was great to watch those with your guest speakers on Third Secret of Fatima and Our Lady of Akita. I am one that grew up with the Novus Ordo. Our parish priests on Our Lady of Queen of Peace have been very faithful. I have been in other churches so I understand about the irregularities which any faithful Catholics would disapprove. I was astonished once when a person approached communion one hand extended for the Host the other with a cup of Dunkin Donut cup of coffee. Even the priest was shocked. Such thoughtless disrespect to Our Lord is hard to fathom. I totally agree with Bishop Athanasius that the Novus Ordo mass has to come closer to the TLM. I once attended a TLM I was speechless and in awe with the beauty and reverence of it. Our Lord is very humble, I can assure you there are devout faithful in the Novus Ordo. I do not agree that the TLM should be suppressed I am praying fervently for this not to happen. Please pray for us. God bless you, your wife and children. You came to mind this am when reading in the Lauds prayers for the Feast of St. Teresa of Avila. “ Those who are learned will be as radiant as the sky in all it’s beauty; those who instruct the people in goodness will shine like the stars for all eternity.” Thank you Dr. Marshall. Oh my goodness, how happy I was and still am to pray from my heart of deep understanding in English. Glad ya all love Latin so much. But I suspect there are many other very devout Catholics who may agree with me! Most probably are not following you. But whatever. I checked you out today. Not my thing but God bless you. ✝️🙏😊

In spanish is the same as the actual Portuguese that doesn't mention "little souls"; it says "almas = animas = souls". And also, the Most Holy Virgin never said "forgive us our sins" nor "those in most need of Thy mercy". Here it is the original translation from Portuguese: "When you pray the rosary, say after each mystery: "". (This formula was written by His Excellency Mr. Amaral, third Bishop of Fatima - Oct. 72 to Feb. 93 - from the first interviews, and by Sr. Lucia in her memoirs, and she strongly recommends that we say it as it came “from the lips of Our Lady”).

Your second half of the Fatima prayer is the modernist version. The original traditional words of BVM’s Fatima prayer: “O my Jesus forgive us! Save us from the fire of hell. Relieve the souls in Purgatory, especially the most abandoned.” Refer to Page 140 & Pages 75-76 of “The Rosarian’s Handbook of the Society of The Rosary Altar” Oct 1,1942 Imprimatur +Francis J. Spellman, D.D. Archbishop of New York In Latin: “O mi Iesu. Dimitte nobis debita nostra. Libera nos ab igne inferni. Subvenire animas in purgatorio, præsertim eas quæ maxime destituo.” The second half of the Fatima prayer specifically refers to the souls in Purgatory. Modernists later removed any reference to Purgatory because it would "offend" Protestants.

With all due respect on that I think we only need to be concerned with the European version as she appeared in Portugal in this specific apparition, not Brazil. @@angelalemos9811 It's the same language tho, and there is no such thing as "Brazilian" when it comes to language... The difference between the two is really only found on idioms and accent, being pretty much negligible when it comes to formal text. That said, the version I hear the most in Brazil is the one with "almas", not "alminhas", and it is, therefore, wrong and risking universalism, and for that reason I always share the original version whenever I hear someone say the wrong one.

@@graciouscompetentdwarfrabbit Well EU portuguese is influenced heavily by slavic as well and not all spelling is the same to the point they can't be called the same thing. There is a big difference even more than the spanish because more often than not we cannot understand one another and that's the point I want to get across. Especially for deciphering, it makes no sense to include the Brazilian way when she didn't appear there in the Fatima apparition. She wouldn't have talked to us as a brazilian.

I haven't found an analysis of this prayer. Who is meant by "especially those most in need of Your mercy." Is it those in pergatory? Those who were baptised or in faith and turned away? Those who are possessed by evil? Atheists? Typically we pray for all. I want to know any theology, guidance, interpretation, etc. On who is "especially in need" or why. I want to go deeper with that phrase in my prayer.
@angelalemos9811

Now this one I could never find a good one of so thank you very much for this video, and for being knowledgeable enough to tackle the O My Jesus wars going on😂 . Portuguese here so I can understand the originals perfectly and I would be able to translate them into English, and as a Portuguese speaker I am more trusting of the second version or Sister Lucia's version. The first one even in our own language just seems so extra for a lack of a better phrase. The second one gets the same message across without certain words I feel is unnecessary. I find myself liking the THIRD one the best BUT I also tolerate the fourth. I just don't like the dimitte nobis debita nostra as the translation for this particular prayer. It doesn't satisfy me hence why I choose the third. I am surprised you didn't call that out a little more in the first one. As for what the Brazilian said I would like to clarify. The Portuguese use the word alminhas to in fact make sweeter and have it hit you in the same way that poor souls does in English AND it DOES in fact mean little souls. What the Brazilian meant I'm assuming is that we can address others that way to since it's like saying poor souls. So let's say we saw a little child begging on the street for money we would say "A pobre alminha" meaning the poor little soul. Just like English people might use the phrase "poor soul or souls" for one or multiple individuals in a non theological discussion. HOWEVER when used in such a context it's more obvious that it's referring to the Holy Souls in purgatory. I wish I could talk to you about this so that I can answer all your questions as a Portuguese speaker. Needless to say you can listen to what that brother said in relation to how we use it.

I'm sure the usual English translation is perfectly acceptable, probably even better than mine, but I think I did a good enough job. 🇵🇹🇧🇷 "Ó meu Jesus, perdoai-nos, livrai-nos¹ do fogo² do inferno; levai as alminhas³ todas para o Céu, principalmente aquelas que mais precisarem." 🇬🇧🇺🇸"Oh my Jesus, forgive us, deliver us¹ from the fires² of hell; Take/lead all 'little souls'³ to Heaven, mainly those who need it the most." ¹The "deliver us from evil" bit in the Our Father is "livrai-nos do mal" in Portuguese, so I'm just using the same wording. ²In Portuguese it is in the singular form, but I feel like in English it makes more sense in the plural form, it's the same thing though. ³Okay, this one is a curious part: "little souls" = "alminhas" because "alminhas" is the diminutive of "almas", however, in Portugal (where the Fatima apparition happened, as I'm sure you know) there is more context to the use of "alminhas" rather than simply "almas". You see, in Portugal there are these wayside shrines called "Alminhas" which are meant to represent the souls in Purgatory. Now, I know there are Catholic wayside shrines all over the world, but they are mostly just that, wayside shrines, maybe for a specific Saint but mostly just a place for a quick stop and prayer, but not for any specific intention, but there isn't a culture of building them with the specific intent of representing (including through the imagery) the souls in Purgatory, except for in Portugal (even here in Brazil the closest thing to it I can think of are small crosses or sort of miniature, i.e. usually about 60cm high, chapels alongside roads which indicated places where deadly accidents happened, but those are more for the person in the accident than for the souls in Purgatory as a whole). All that is to say that requesting to lead "all souls" to heaven is only meant to represent those souls in Purgatory, not some universalist thing.

@@graciouscompetentdwarfrabbit Thanks for that great explanation, especially about the little purgatorial souls. A seminarian friend of mine knows another seminarian that would not pray the Fatima prayer because he thought the "lead all souls to heaven" was a universalist plea. This is a serious question looking for a truthful answer for the benefit of confidence. It is not posed to create a separate discussion. A simple answer will suffice. When you say the one that Sister Lucia gave, WHEN did she give it? As you know, there is abundant credible evidence that an imposter sister Lucia appeared upon the scene under the putative reign of Bishop Montini. I’m hoping to learn the version she gave before Roncalli claimed the Papal throne. Hopefully she did.

Taylor Marshall's second half of the Fatima prayer is the modernist version.

I'm a Nigerian, and the only form of the mass I have ever known is the Novus Ordo. I've never experienced the TLM, but would really love to. What can I do? And is the N.O. any less valid than the TLM?
@ryanautrey2269
@ryanautrey2269 3 жыл бұрын
We presume that the novus ordo has the valid Eucharist unless there's some indication, in a particular case, that there's a defect of matter, form, or intention. It's typically presumed to be the genuine sacrament. That says nothing of whether or not the new rite is licit. It was compiled by Bugnini, who was later exiled due to apparent connections with freemasonry, under the influence of protestants. It conceals true Catholic doctrine, making the liturgy accessable to either a Catholic interpretation or a protestant one. It gives options to omit parts that may still be "too Catholic" for protestant ears. It omits many offensive passages of Scripture- just edits them out. The Council of Trent (16th century) insisted that the received and approved rites of the sacraments must be accepted, not omitted, nor changed into new ones by any pastor whomsoever (Session VII, Canon XIII). Pope Pius V enforced this in Quo Primum. Vatican I reaffirmed the Canons of Trent. So, the novus ordo is not a legitimate rite; not to place blame on those who attend it without realizing this.

@@ryanautrey2269 You've explained this extremely well, thank you. In Oct '65, I knew then that the death knell of the true church was being sounded. It wasn't until many years later that my conviction was confirmed by Mother Of Good Success in Quito re: a false church, gospel and teaching. Many changes came from '61 onwards and it's been all down hill since. Eucharistic validity!? Well, as Paul VI changed the ordination rite, it called into question "is the vat2 ordination rite valid?" So many of us are seeking answers for this. So I turned to the SSPX for an clarification with the question "Must those who change from the N.O. to the TLM need to be re-ordained?"The answer cleared it up for me. My belief is NO, the consecration is NOT valid. I've asked many a priest posing the question of licit and valid, and they all have a different view! Wow, if they can't get it right, what hope is there for the laity! My solution - never attend other than a TLM.

@@nifty1940 Hello, if the church can make up the liturgy anyway she wants, then why wouldn't the NO be valid? I am genuinely interested. I attend TLM, but still trying to make sense out of why I don't ever want to go to NO again.

@@SmithsnMoz This is an appropriate and accurate metaphor describing the Novus Ordo. It is an anorexic and anemic figment of the true Sacrifice of the Holy Mass. The traditional Latin Mass is on another level, and is a rich, profound and beautiful expression of worship, worthy enough to be rendered unto God. To accept the ridiculous notion that the Novus Ordo and the TLM are two wings of the same bird is to engage oneself in a fallacious belief. Even a skirting glance at the two forms reveals the many differences. The TLM is like a fine aged wine. The Novus Ordo, is like Nestlé Quick.

PRAYER TO MARY, QUEEN OF THE ANGELS [ August Queen of Heaven Prayer ] An Indulgence of 500 days. (S. C. Ind., July 8, 1908; S. P. Ap., Mar. 28, 1935) August Queen of Heaven and Mistress of the Angels, thou who hast received from God the power and the mission to crush the head of Satan: we humbly ask thee to send to us thy heavenly legions so that, under thy command, they may pursue the demons let loose upon the earth, fight them everywhere, vanquish their audacity, and drive them back into the abyss. “Who is like unto God?” O good and tender Mother, thou shalt ever be our love and our hope. O divine Mother, send the Holy Angels to defend us [me] and repel far from us [me] the cruel enemy. Holy Angels and Archangels, defend and keep us. Amen. THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS PRAYER [Please Read] The faithful are asked to say this prayer frequently and fervently. It is of great importance given the following remarkable background: [1] The prayer was dictated by the Blessed Mother herself to the holy and venerable priest, Fr. Louis-Édouard Cestac, on January 13, 1863 as a means to combat the powers of Hell. [2] An exorcism prayer in itself, this is a formidable prayer for “spiritual battle” especially needed for our times when the ravages caused by the fallen angels are everywhere conspicuous and unrelenting. [3] It is a prayer approved by the Church: It was recommended to the faithful by Pope Pius IX, and later indulgenced by both Popes Leo XIII and Pius X. Note on this Translatio

I understand the confusion. Unfortunately none of the versions address what is so important that the angel taught. the poor souls(of purgatory), that are in most need. It is shameful, as this prayer is meant to free souls from purgatory! So all souls should not be used. English has such poor translation. I'm sure your aware that Brazilian Portuguese is different from European/mainland Portuguese, and different from African Portuguese. Using little (poor) souls in english is how I was taught by a Portuguese immigrant. It is meant to pray from your heart as a child! Some prayers are best left in their original tongue.
