Mr Ivan and Mr Nick, I recently reached out to you regarding a client of mine with a predominantly matte wrapped McClaren. As suggested (3 yr graghine coating or the 8 yr ceramic coating), my client selected the 3 yr coating. I purchased the 3yr kit plus extra coating just in case. Is the application process any different between the two coatings? What other specific videos do I need to watch before doing the work? I’d hate to mess it up and use my insurance to fix it if you know what I mean….thanks in advance of course.

The application is the same. Be methodical, and check for high spots sooner than later.

Very informative.I just got a honda crv EX-L Lunar Silver Metallic. For the life or me I cannot figure out if it that paint is matte or glossy or somewhere in between and if I should use the above materials on it or the glossy ones or neither? Please help. Question on the applicators and clothes… once used for ceramic are they washable and use again for exterior use or are they banished to the wheels or interior designation? Or are they trash? The fact that glass/ceramic drying on a towel instinctively tells me I have contaminated it for life. Thanks for your hard work to make us smarter guys, love your work. Pete

Pete, once finished applying, put them in your wash bucket for 15 minutes or more, rinse and launder as usual, they will last very long that way.

Love all your products, love the coatings you have developed, love how simple you are making it! Thank you for all the hard work you are putting into this. I have a question because I'm just wanting to learn a little more about them. Besides longevity, what does one get with the 3, 5, or 8 yr ceramic coatings versus maintaining a vehicle with regular applications of ceramic gloss? Not trying to be snarky, just want to be an informed buyer, the longevity is clear but just wondering what else. Thanks! Jonathan

Thanks for the question. A coating provides a much thicker protection, and much more protection against chemicals ( insects, bird droppings, car washes). DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss provides great beading, gloss and UV protection, much like a true ceramic coating, but can’t compare when chemicals come into the mix.

@@diydetailofficial that makes a lot of sense, thank you! I had to park my vehicle under a tree for one night. It rained and my car only had a layer of ceramic gloss on it. I had to use All Clean during the subsequent wash to remove the stains from the tree. I'm looking forward to applying a coating 👍

Seeing that paint correction is not possible on a matte paint. What about the swirl marks? Are they not as visible on a matte paint as on a glossy paint? Also is it possible after getting a matte car ceramic coated ,i decide sometime later that I want to apply ppf instead for better protection? Will the ppf stick to a ceramic coated car? If not how do we go about that? Can't really buff the paint on a matte car to get rid of the ceramic coat or can we?

Yes you will see swirl marks on matte paint. PPF can be applied over Ceramic Coating.

You will need to check with a paint manufacturer. For the coating our 8 year is best on a matte finish

Yes, but it will add gloss to the matte finish. All our coatings are safe for wraps and PPF

If I understood correctly, everything except polishing is a no no. What about shampoo with waxes, silicons, etc.. I thought only neutral stuff is permitted on matte finishes? Thanks.

You can use those, but it will affect the look.
