This is how I prepared my guitar body for a professional paint job. WARNING: this requires a lot of sanding. I hate sanding. So you hear me complaining about sanding a lot. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Well Dan you got me to add 2 more channels to my already too long list. I just happened to be watching know your gear live when someone wrote Phill to see if he wanted to do something together after they where done with the project they where doing with you... so off I went to check out scar my guitar & half way through the video I added them! Then when watching you with that non reverse FireBird I had to see the paint job being done so now he’s on my notification bell. Awesome look. I checked out Brad’s channel and he turned me on to solo guitar kits. I always wanted a Music man bass but don’t want to pay the money. I was wondering if you could do a build with a humbucker pickups selector switch with a 19v. I’m also a huge fan of your wood grain stains and finishes with tunge oil just what you would use with that kit.

I'm getting ready to start sanding a guitar I got from the GFS factory clearance (it's the black buh nuh nuh nuh nuh, in case anyone else here frequents that page). I hadn't stumbled upon Brad's channel yet, but since I have now, I'm going to watch his stuff and make sure I'm starting off on the right direction. Great video once again. But I gotta question I want to put a Bigsby on a jazzmaster. Should I do it with a vibramate.Or just fill in the cavity and make it a permanent mod(which I don’t mind). Or cover the hole with a thin piece of wood in replacement for the vibramtate. Suggestions please.

Dan , I have a Les Paul style kit guitar I purchased from Precision Guitar Kits. It doesn’t have a binding so I wanted to leave the unfinished maple cap on the sides of it to look like a binding. I thought I would tape off the unfinished maple in the sides and spray on vinyl sealer before staining the bottom and dyeing the top of the guitar. My concern is the stain and dye bleeding into the unfinished cap and not having a clean line. Good idea or bad? Or is there a better way to do that. Thanks for all your help.

If I just seal , sand, paint 3 coats and sand the final coat lightly will it give me a cool satiny-vintage effect? (no top coat)

Without a top coat the paint will feel sticky and wear off quickly

Your buddy Brad, from the "Great White North " did a phenomenal job painting this Guitar for you. After watching his video, it's apparent, I'll never be able to even begin to put as much as an amateurish, horribly bad paint job!! I'm ok at Staining...painting...no way. I'm thinking of purchasing a Les Paul style kit.....since I can't dish out thousands on a real one, then try to create "Faded/Worn" finish much like the Reissues/Tributes that were released back in the 2005-2009 era??? If you were to look at pictures of most of Gary Richraths LP Collection during his REO SPEEDWAGON Years, I love the Desert, Lemon, Iced Tea, Faded Burst look of his Historic collection. Any advice on achieving a finish like that or letting me know what you may charge to do the body, let me know. I want a Matte/Satin type finish on the Neck because my Palms ooze some sort of Funky, Gooey Glue Gunk that makes it impossible for me to play a Gloss or High Gloss Neck finish. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! BTW, Is there a company you recommend for your kits?? Thanks again and such a beautiful Guitar!! Keith "KK" Darling

This is going to depend on a few key factors budget is a big one the more you can spend the more you will get in return. Are you runing stereo or mono? going to be sharing a mix or do you want individual mixes? Wifi or radio signal digital or analog? There are more factors.

pablo rages there can be. It’s often helpful to tint your wood filler before applying it. Tinting it darker can give a nice accent.
