How to Prepare an Epson Printer for Long Term Storage

It is always a bad thing to leave an EPSON Printer unattended for months on end.
But if you must be away and you can not get someone to come every week to run the printer.
Or can not set up an automatic printing utility then you must resort to this.
To make 100ML of the storage solution:
20 ML Glycerol or Methylene Glycol
20 ML 99% Isopropyl Alcohol
60 ML Distilled Water

hi Jon, in your storage solution formula in the description, is it Glycerol or Methylene Glycol ? Or it doesn't matter and either can be used?

Can vegetable glycerine be used if propylene glycol is not available ?

Diethylene glycol is better but Regular drugstore Glycerol will work ok.

Hi Jose. I have been given an Epson Stylus Pro 9890, I used to print on the smaller one, the 7890. As far as I can tell everything is fine and working (there is power etc) but it have been left unused for a few years and ufortunatly left with ink in it. I was thinking about using piezoflush, but its kinda expensive! Can you recomend an alternative?

Where can you get glycerol. All I get to come up on Google locally is glycerin.

Glycerol is the Scientific name Glycerin is what you will find at CVS and other drugstores and it is the same reagent.

Hi Jose, thank you for the informative video. I am moving cross country and my p8000 will be in a pod for about a month. Do you think it can make it that long and be ok without draining and filling with Piezo flush?

Either way you would have to completely flush out all the existing ink in the system with something like Piezoflush and then storing it with Piezoflush filled refillable cartridges. Then when you reinitialize the printer you replace the carts with ink filled carts and flush out all the Piezoflush from the system. It's just as I explained in my very recent video.

No they do not. You would need some refillable carts that you would then fill with the required fluid such as Piezoflush.

i have a question, now that epson is no longer making the artisan 1430, i managed to purchased a few of the refurbished 1430 one from there website. I would i need to use the PiezoFlush to keep the prints from drying out even though i have not opened the units? I do know the units do not come with ink cartridges installed.

Then there would be no ink in the printhead to "dry Up" as you say. The can stay in the box pretty much for ever.

Have you ordered any refillables from Alibaba for the 3800 ? Do you know if they come with both sets of chips ?

NO I have not. But no, they will not come with OEM chips you need to provide those. They only come with the controller chip. Your matching oem chip is installed underneath the controller chip.

How do I get Epson F2i000 out of storage mode and back to work?

Is that for Photo or DTG? If DTG then I would assume to power it on and run nozzle checks and cleaning until it is 100% clean which I am sure it would not be.

due to the pandemic, i wasnt able to run my p800 for over a year. it had been sitting in my office the entire time. is there a chance the print heads are messed up?

You need to figure out what will fit tight on your epson printhead ink spigots. It varies.it also needs to be rubber and not tubing fish tank air line.

If the carts ride on top of the printhead then yes you can do this. If the carts are stationary then no.

Hello assume this would be the same for the Epson 3800 to be stored.? What about like the WF1100 ? I have two of them I need to long term store and there are no lines in them as the ink directly to the print head. Would the mention solution be okay to run thru them ? Thanks and informative video.

Same and much easier. Refillable carts filled with Piezoflush. Two cleaning cycles to flush out existing ink. Turn off and store.

I am using a canon mg5570 printer.My question is will this printer be compatible with third party pigment ink?.

No idea. You have to look at third party ink and cert sellers and see. I would see if the original carts can even be refilled. That would be the best way to go. But so you know, I only work with PRO model photo printers and not smaller printers canon or Epson.

hi Jose, do you have any idea, what kind fluid to use for cleaning PH dumper pad on Epson ? Thinking about windex, but as you said before, the amonia could destroy any circuit board

Only if you were to expose it for months on end! The Ammonia concentration is not strong enough anyway or it would be harmful to use even for window cleaning. Don't worry.

Hi Jose, doesn’t Piezoflush contain ammonia? I unfortunately have to put 2 of my printers in storage mode now with the Coronavirus hitting, I have 2 sc-p9000 and a sc-t7200, I’m actually waiting for another printhead to arrive for the sc-t7200 as it wasn’t used for a few months and one of the Colours got blocked, even though I’d flushed the head with Piezoflush and left it with it in the system, I tried everything to unblock it, windex even didn’t work which usually does the trick, would probably of been salvageable if the heads weren’t sealed / bonded to the manifold like other heads... anyway, back to the point, I want to store 1 of the sc-p9000 and the sc-t7200 when the head arrives, any suggestions/ advice on how I can store these long term? No it does not. Though it works great to unclog it is formulated for prepping printers for short or long term storage

Only can be efficiently used with printers using refillable carts.
