put a like, this is basic and BRILLIANT information. distance is a big tell. a big indicator of what they want to do. a person far away wants to talk. also, always create a conversation because sometimes a person just wants to know they are safe, and if you can figure out why they don't feel safe, there's not a fight. walk away, look away, say what they want to hear - pride means nothing if you want them to feel safe and you to be safe. both people end up safe. pretty neat :)

even someone who feels that need to do harm in order to feel safe will look around for someone in order to make them FEEL threatened. they look for eye contact, they look for people using their bodies to "get ready" and if you CHOOSE to look away, to be relaxed and not worried, something weird happens and they calm down. i'm speaking from experience in multiple hospitals and in other areas. my comment is for you to be safe and for them to be safe and avoid harm for themselves as a consequence of their feelings or whatever

it also happens when your looking in another direction, with the jaw unclenched theres no way to prepare for it besides being aware of your surroundings and any potential threat

stepping back shows weakness, and ensure a fight. just create distance by pushing him back when he comes close.
