When doing a flow test you need to regulate the pressure to the optimal pressure the sprinklers run at(ie. 280kpa for mp rotators). You've measured it open flow with no back pressure, which will affect your flow rates. Put a 2nd valve and a gauge on the end of your hose. Open the fixed tap fully, and then open the 2nd valve til the gauge reads the pressure you want the sprinklers to run at. Will let you design the system far more accurately.

Just a couple of suggestions, using ceramic ball value taps for elderly parents, make easier use for them. And also, not mounting taps to fence posts allows for less hassle if having to replace fence posts.

Great point about the ceramic ball valves and will consider swapping them over if the traditional taps become a challenge. You raise a good point about the fence posts. Had these posts not been 100mm SHS galvanised I may have put them on separate posts

Hey mate, great job. Curious as to why you are using High Density Blue Line poly pipe to the sprinklers rather than low density 25mm / 19mm pipe? Presumably you'll be using solenoids valves? I've always done blue line to the valve box and then low density to the sprinkler heads? Cheers mate.

I usually use green stripe rural class post valves but the price between the 2 pipes where similar so I was better off just getting one type of pipe and going with it for both taps and irrigation The static pressure is about 800kpa so pretty high. The reason I have never used low density poly for pop ups is the quality isn’t there in the joiners and fittings these days IMO . I just would rather spend a little bit more in the beginning than be forced to make repairs down the track as the system ages .

Man you make it look easy guess that's what happens when you have done it before, the only thing I don't like in Australia is the water meters been above ground looks so unfinished I guess if you had them in the ground like we do here in nz it would be fill of things trying to kill you🤣

@@troybrannelly5554 most of the videos I have seen they are all above ground so good to know, I hardly ever look at mine might be once a year I need to look at it or turn it off, just mow over the hatch and keep it clear so the council can get the reading to sent me a water bill

Why aren’t you using 19mm poly pipe? Or 25? Never seen anyone use blue line straight to the sprinkler heads, must have much better pressure up there than down here

Hi mate my static is about 800kpa I find the quality has gone from the low density poly fittings so I’d rather do it right the first time that be replacing fittings going forward. All my systems are built with stripe pipe over low density poly.

hi, still loving your videos I am looking at buying a Scarifyer for home use and the Draper one keeps appearing in my YT feed and i was wondering if you have tested/heard of it as the reviews seem quit positive about it Cost is $279 from Total Tools it is a corded electric model which come with both the dethatch and the scarify blades/attachments where as the ryobi version is around $550 + $70 to get the both attachments and batteries ( i dont have ryobi system at all) Also what was the product you applied to my lawn in Mussy after you did my lawn to help easy the strain on the lawn after dethatch

When you finish this project i would love to know the total cost of all the irrigation components, machinery hire and man hours. Interesting for the viewers to get there head around what these jobs cost if they were to get a irrigation contractor to do the work or try and do it themselves?
