Stretching is very important. I started running to often and got ITB band syndrome. Rest days and stretching has helped get rid of it.

I was feeling like it was too late to go for a run (11pm) and i just told myself i have to start someday and just went for it, went for a 40-50min jog/walk, about 50/50. Did better than i expected. I have no problem with pushups, situps, squat jumps. Its mostly my cardio that i have to work on, and pull-ups. Soon as i get my driver's license I'll apply at my local police station, they're short staff where i live

Great tips. At 40 and after 10+ years of sitting at a desk I am training for the academy. IT band, achilles tendinitis, and low VO2 have been my biggest hurdles. Btw, our entry requirements are 30 sit-ups & push-ups (1min ea.) and 1.5 miles in 13 minutes.

I’m preparing at the moment, I’ve been running but I’m still running 1.5 miles in about 16 mins and 37 seconds, ( test is 1.5 in 12.35 mins) I’m still struggling with the pushups but I’ll get there. The civil test is Sep 21st and after that the academy probably December or January ( is TBD). I really hope I can be ready by then. Thank you for the video.

as someone who has been working and bodybuilder for the past 4 years. the academy sounds easy. i feel like the hardest part is getting an answer back from the police district. do you have any advice on how to get their attention as someone who just graduated college and just been working in wearhouses? i have no experience in using guns or any sort of security experiences.

Trying to get into LAPD I don't want any other department but I got DQ and need to write and email an appeal so I'm gonna take 2 years to train study and also take classes for martial arts and maybe some law. I have a embarrassing history of arrest and misdemeanors so it makes sense why I was DQ and I need to show them I'm not the same person. to anyone trying to apply to any department don't give up and train if you can prepare yourself before you even apply so when you go to take this test you'll stand out and be more likely to move along the hiring process and get hired.

the one at mine is 50 push ups in a minute and 50 sit ups in a minute as for the mile&half run I don't remember but it cgot changed to a pacer test. Tbh In no way I'm trying to be offensive but the fire academy is way harder and this is easy and kind of eye opening and worrisome

For Nevada State Police 11.5" vertical jump, 24 pushups no time limit, 24 situps in 1 minute, 300 agility test in 24 seconds, 1.5 mile run in 20 minutes. It is a big challenge for me but who does not love challenges? currently I cant do the majority; about 5 pushups and 4 situps, jogging have no tried just jet. I have 70 pounds overweight from my ideal body weight, very sedentary work where I have half day sitting in company car and half day physically working, then lot of junk food out; not too different from police routines in that sense. So my weight should be 145-150 and I am at 210 right now, but here is the kicker; I know how to get it down, 2 years ago I trained to go up mount Whitney because my first attempt in 2016 failed, was way too overweight for the challenge at 216 pounds at that time, so by cutting the crap like you said, no soda, no rice, no bread, crackers, just water, small meals of fish and vegetables, mostly broccoli, steamed nothing fried, no meats, not even chicken, lot of zero calories stuff like sauces and dressing for salads, one favorite of mine which makes you feel full and does not add weight is watermelon; was watching the calories intake and trying to live on less than 2000 calories per day, dialed it into 1400 calories and did 1 hour treadmill or 1.5 hours per day plus regular normal routines; I dropped down from 216 to 185 from January 2022 through April, no training program, no other exercises, only that diet that I made up and treadmill, just consistency and in July 2022 had the mountain as reward, STILL was hard as hell on me as my weight was in no way ideal, I felt I needed 31 more pounds off me but I summit and felt like a small (some say it is no joke and in no way small but a big deal) challenge accomplished which is why I believe I can do this one as well and then for better health choice try to hold the line then and be done with the junk; so the formula is simple, burn more calories than what you intake, but having close to 3k calories per day it is hard to burn out so much unless expending half day exercising. So I am interested in a training program for this; I may not need to shed all 70 pounds to start the academy but that is my ultimate goal, if I can drop 30 pounds again and with a good endurance training I believe I can meet the minimum requirements; my recruiter told me he will keep sending the emails every month as I asked for time to get in shape, few months probably, he said when I feel ready to respond he will then schedule test time. Thank you for this video.

@andrewkowalski73967 ай бұрын
It's honestly silly that situps are a requirement. Sit ups are terrible for your lower back and honestly not a great indication of core strength. I know some departments here and overseas have switched to doing a 1-2 minute plank hold instead of the situps. I can hold a plank for 3 minutes, do reverse ab cable crunches, deadlifts and heavy squats, all of which require a lot of core strength and don't bother my back at all but sit ups like in the video kill me

I doubt you need it for the academy, but there could be a few agencies who require it. Although with it being harder to find officer they may be lifting that requirement. Just call the academy and any agency you wish to work for they can tell you.
