This dropped at the perfect time for me. I literally had a mental breakdown a few hours ago. I tried to shoot a video (I've done that twice before but didn't post them because they're terrible) and failed miserably, it took me forever to remember how to work my camera, I made the most ridiculous mistakes with the audio and finally when I got the hang of things my camera was gonna die and I couldn't find the charger. I spent almost an hour looking for that charger, I got so exhausted and tried to film with a laptop or my phone but it just wasn't working out for me. I wish I knew your tips before. But that's all good cause I'm going to film tomorrow even if it's in the midst of an earthquake.

As great as it is to try and be prepared as possible, it’s SOOO much more important to not get bogged down by all the little details, avoid the procrastination brought on by “analysis paralysis”, and just START! With hindsight, it’s so easy to look back at old videos (especially the first) and think, “If only I knew then what I know now, I’d’ve done things differently.” However, Vanessa, you’re a shining example of what is possible, but only because you chose to, as Think Media would say, “start messy!” And in doing so, are a huge inspiration to us!

I've been on KZbin for a little bit now and it's absolutely hilarious listening to the things you went through and thinking "Yep! Same!". I personally believe that everyone has to go through these sort of trials and tribulations to find their way because each of our journeys here will be different. It humbles you and it makes for some great stomach aching, high note cackles later down the road. With your KZbin gear I would carry on the legacy by showing the exact in's and outs of what I did on my fitness journey, the good days and the bad and also how I moved from NYC back home to DC and rebuilt my fitness empire. Thanks again for another banger Vanessa!

I completely agree on the part about how different it is to talk to a camera than to talk to a person or crowd. I have been a business owner for 7 years and have talked to news media, crowds, other business owners, state agencies etc... and thought that talking alone to a camera would be no different. I was wrong lol I messed up quite a bit and it was much harder to keep focused on what needed to be said, since there are no reactions or conversations taking place to react to or to be prompted by. My second video is in a much more laid back fashion and felt much more natural shooting in a vlog style. The most important thing and lesson I have learned as a business owner is just to start, learn to adapt and improve as you go. Great video!

Your experience totally mirrored mine with my first video! I just started last month, and it took me forever to film. My camera kept dying (first from the battery, and then from overheating). When it was time to edit, I realized just how much I was meandering and doing nothing. It drove me crazy and I tried to edit out as much as I could. I think I put over 12 hours into my first video. And it still wasn't that great! But I am slowly improving. I've started outlining a loose script to reduce my filler words, I'm becoming more comfortable speaking to the camera, and I'm learning my way around my editing software. I guess all I need now is better equipment! 😅 If I were to win a giveaway, I would take advantage of the equipment by shooting better reviews and how-tos for my planner channel. I love talking stationery, journals, and pens. Better footage means better information relayed to my viewers!

These are not only for the first video but also for new KZbin content creator like me who's been encountering such horrible mistakes you shared on this video. This gear will help me to at least lessen these mistakes in filming my videos. Since I will start filming educational contents for my elementary students. More power Vanessa!

“How will you continue the legacy with my equipment?” The idea I have for my KZbin videos is to interview small business owners in my area. Also, elderly ones who feel like they have not had a chance to share their life. I already have a list of locations, questions, and ideas. I have just been having a hard time getting the camera because I have anxiety and I’m scared for some reason to buy the equipment I need. This would help me get through that part. Love you Vanessa!

Hi Vanessa, I've been watching your videos since you first started out and have lesrned so much from you! I am starting my first youtube channel after 2 years of learning about entrepreneurship and starting my own biz. In branding and design. I'll be able to stayed home with my kids and still contribute financially. I have some gear I've collected through the last year but I'm lacking a good camera. I hope you see this but either way you and your content are phenominal and I wish you all the best 😊

I plan on continuing the legacy with your equipment by recording videos every week and posting bi-weekly! My friend and I are starting a full service event planning business and we are super excited! We always share your videos with each other and write down the tips you suggest. You are such an inspiration Vanessa, and your giveaway would help us so much :)

Wow this video has to be the most helpful video I have ever watched! Thank you so much! I just started youtube and the struggle is really real. It takes a long time to get it right! I didn't realize how much work it would be but I am so excited to continue learning. I've finally let go of the idea of perfect and I'm okay with stumbling over my words and making mistakes. I've never had so much fun in my whole life ! It's so worth it!!

I think the best way to continue the legacy is to pay it forward as well. It's awesome having someone who is willing to give tips and advice on making a KZbin channel.

Love the idea of you paying it forward Vanessa! I've been doing youtube for about a year an a half now. I started on my iphone with a crappy microphone then graduated to the lapel and eventually I bought a second hand Sony A6000. The improvement from then to now is astronomical, not only tech wise but even how I present myself on camera. With this equipment I would be able to continue sharing my life as millennial mom and military spouse as well as my passion for makeup, clothes and decor 💖

I've been wanting to start a KZbin channel for a few years now and due to unfortuntae life events, I never got around to starting it. However, tides have turned and I'm full on my way to starting! My channel is going to be all about a healthy whole foods plant based lifestyle with a fun twist as a single working mom of 3 kids! I would but this equipment to great use because I have nothing but a smart phone to start with. I know my channel will inspire so many females around the globe that they can find freedom amidst life trials and get/stay healthy!

I definitely want to share my knowledge and personality with the world and I think youtube and instagram are the perfect way to do that!! I always feel like I have no chance to do this because I'm not a rich person with a bunch of equipment and nice clothing and things like that but giveaways like this give me so much hope!

Hi Vanessa, I found out about your channel back in April of 2019 when I first started my Food and Travel page on Instagram. I have always wanted to make cooking videos on KZbin and share my recipes with people. To this day, I have only been able to upload only two Vlog style videos about my travels. I watch your videos to learn more about the platform and I really appreciate your honesty. I would carry on your legacy with more videos on my travels and of course my lifelong goal of sharing my recipes on KZbin. Keep up the great work that you do. You make all of us millennials really proud and we really look up to you.

Amazing video, Vanessa - there were so many things I had to learn on the way to making my first videos. Getting the audio to a decent quality is a *must* because I have a video with really good content where people told me they couldn't watch it fully because of the audio itself! So getting a good mic and a $25 ring light made a huge improvement already (and there's so much more I can do!). If I win this, I'd love to continue your legacy and get myself to 100,000 subscribers because I want to help as many introverts to share their message confidently!

Hey Vanessa. I've been following your journey since the beginning. I would like to continue this legacy by starting and sharing content around mindset, self development to really help inspire people to become the best versions of themselves/higher selves through the video content. For the last decade, I've dabbled on what content to make and feared my way of creating content as I wasn't sure. I know this is time now.

Hey Vanessa, thank you so much for this opportunity 😁. It's really good to see that there are KZbinrs who are seriously rooting for their audience. How I'll be continuing the legacy? Well obviously the first thing would be to actually pass on the equipment to another newbie who needs the stuff. But I thought it would also be great to add some more stuff to the mix, like lighting equipment, tripods etc. And the reason why is that I'm about to start a channel myself and in doing research, I realized that those things don't come cheap! Especially in my country (South Africa) 🤦♀️. Great tips by the way, I'm still working on getting used to hear my own weird voice on a video first😅. But I did take notes for when I'm ready to actually record and upload my first video. PS. Nice jacket! You should give that away too. It looks like my size! 🤣
