This is good advice! 👍🏻Duct tape and tie-wraps/cable ties can fix a lot of things. Maybe bring some oil? There are different types. I've heard that not all types work well for your scooter. Some bring issues like overheating.

One thing you should bear in mind is that in many parts of the world, especially the 3rd world, most mechanics are butchers and if you let them loose on your bike they will wreck it. They will not see you again so they don't care. So the very first thing to do before you set off is learn and know how to fix your own bike and don't leave the mechanic unsupervised. If you service the bike properly you won't need any serious repairs, like an engine or gearbox strip. So repairs will be tyres, maybe chain/sprockets and replacing broken parts that don't require expertise.

I am going on a World tour on a 125cc Scooter , but my problem is i want to carry too much Luggage and spare parts. I think i will be lucky if i can go faster than 40 miles an hour with all the weight. I will be loaded up like a Mule going up Mount Everest , i think they call them Sherpas. I have learnt how to change a Tire with Zip Ties , handy trick to know. But anything goes wrong with the Engine then i am Clueless , i also need to learn how to check the Valve Clearance as the Garages charge a small fortune to do that. I'm looking forward to my tour though , not got many years left at my age , this is my Goodbye Trip.

Wow, what an incredible adventure you're about to embark on! I was a mechanical idiot before I left for my long trip. One thing I learned on this trip is to ask for help. You don't have to do everything alone and by yourself. Every breakdown is an opportunity to learn. A "Goodbye Trip" is a celebration of a life lived boldly. I’m sure this journey will leave a legacy of stories to inspire others for years to come. I wish you the best.

There is one trick to go faster and have long lasting bike. Get a big bike. But then you need to carry all the weight of the big bike around all the time, pay for several times higher fuel consumption, all parts are way more expensive etc.

But also more complexity when things do go wrong. A little air cooled scooter can have the engine completely rebuilt very quickly. Most are air cooled, so no radiator leaks, coolant checks etc. Also some Vespas have a spare wheel and the same wheel / tyre size between the front and back. Gearboxes are usually a mechanical belt driven auto - so no chain maintenance / greasing.
