Namaste ma'am, I'm very grateful to you for sharing the knowledge related to stree dharma🙂. The influence of modernisation and the ideas of western world have built misconceptions towards our traditional practices, I'm looking forward to more of those misconceptions getting cleared.🙏🏻

In Andhra, we use castor oil instead of coconut oil for the lamp. In addition, some spices like Karakkaya(in Telugu and Harad in Hindi) and few others are rolled into the wick.. eventually when the black soot is mixed with oil, it is castor oil and a very tiny quantity of edible Camphor is used. Please note that this preparation is for elders. For infants, the preparation doesnot include spices and camphor.

Yes, in Karnataka also, we find the use of Castor Oil which has many benefits for the eye. Thank you for sharing this. 🙂

Wow!!! Such simple demonstration in Malayalam!!! Love her language. My grand mother used to make Kajal at home for my girls when they were born. Hard luck, I could not learn the process from her… thanks for sharing this video. My grand mother used to say she used ghee… not sure how and when.,

Please, if possible also make videos of traditional way of making kunkuma and traditional way of wearing a sari.. very helpful for women like me who live in metro cities of North where most of traditions are lost . These short videos are very helpful in sharing with others also. Can't thank enough for your divine knowledge 🙏 May Devi's ashirwad be on all of us.

🔱 DhanyavaadaH Sinu Bhagini 😊 I made kajal by putting an almond over a flame on the stove, and the residue was collected on an old spoon above the almond. That thin layer was used as kajal, this is a recipe I saw online some time ago. (1) Is this actually okay to use? Is it viable (does it give benefits like other kajal)? Another question: why do we girls who haven’t gone through vivaha Samskara wear kajal? I’ve been told it’s to do with evil eye, I researched it and I don’t know if that’s the dharmasya reason or a jihad colonial imposition from hundreds of years ago which may actually be the case. So, (2) is there actually a dharmasya reason for women not in vivaha to wear kajal as a bindu?? (3) If not, should we just be wearing sandalwood and Bhasma from puja instead? 🙏🏽

You will find the answers in Chapter 15 of the Stri Dharma Paddhatih Part 1, in the section on Collyrium (kajal). Or you can wait for the turn of that video in Jan-Feb :-)
