Beautiful horse. I do Hunter/Jumpers and lead changes are so important. I've always had problems with lead flying lead changes with my horse.

I feel stupid because I still don't understand what cue he's giving her for the lead change.

Not sure what is the purpose of the counter canter.

+Sally Boeras the purpose of the counter canter is to teach the horse balance and to teach you to use the outside aids (rein, seat and leg).It is so much easier to teach them a lead change if go into a counter canter, and you have the inside and outside aids on, and then take off the inside aids.it will feel awkward at first, and they will fight you but it willl teach them to listen to your aids.Normally humter jumpers turn the horse into the different lead which results in a dropped shoulder. Counter canter is more common in the western and dressage world, but is a great exercise for all horses to learn to stay balanced and in between the reins.

Wow, thanks Charles. I really learned a lot from your video. Will have to watch it a lot since that's what I'm working on. Lead changes are so important in the Hunter World that that alone can make or break you in the Hunter course.
