I tried this late last night after viewing your video, and I'm in love with this process! I love the look of it, like the flowers are behind a thin veil. And it was so easy! I mean, I did fumble about a little because the flowers and leaves are so delicate, but all in all, anyone can do this. I tried the tissue paper layer as someone below suggested, but it was very difficult. I do like how it turned out, though, but the deli paper was a lot easier to work with. I have tons of pressed flowers my daughter has done, and now we have a beautiful way to use them. Thank you!

I love this! It just gave me the perfect idea for a gift for my dad; his dog passed away about 6 months ago which he struggles with every day, but the vet gave him seeds to plant in her honor. They turned into pretty, blue flowers. He’s a reader (he reads many hours per day) so I’m going to take one of the blue flowers and make a bookmark out of it for him. I used to make him those as a child but this one will be extra special. Thank u so much for sharing because this will definitely be a project that brings my dad some joy again :)

So lovely! I wouldn't have thought to use deli paper. My grandmother taught me how to do this with tissues. Take a tissue (not tissue paper) and make it single ply. Using 1 part Elmers glue and 1 part water, glue the flower between the card and the tissue. The tissue will wrinkle in a lovely manner. I sometimes add extra wrinkles by pouncing the glue gently on the flower side of the tissue. If you tear the tissue instead of cutting it, you can get a nice deckled edge. I've made invitations and thank you notes this way. Sometimes I add irredesent medium to the glue mixture to add some subtle sparkle. I hope you try this. I have friends that have saved the cards I gave them for years.

Dianne Blake, My mother taught me how to do this when I was a child. We would put waxed paper down, place the flowers on top of the waxed paper and place the tissue (dry) over this. Then, we would carefully "paint" on the glue. You can use fine glitter too!

I make cards and bookmarks with pressed flowers and just brush Mod Podge over the flowers and card to seal them. You do have to be sure to make all the brush strokes in the same direction because depending on the angle of the light they can be seen, but I like that look. However, I will try this method since it will be a different look. Thanks for your video, the cards are lovely ❤️

Hi Nina, these are lovely. Have you ever tried Flower Pounding? I googled it and here on U-tube there is not much. But I took a class a few Saturdays ago and we pounded fresh flowers on to cotton fabric. Since I am a paper artist I wanted to use paper. So when I got home I did it on water color paper. Turned out beautiful!!!! So here is what you do to get a good print. You use fresh flowers and flat ones work better. Cut the stem off and lay the flower upside down on to your watercolor paper. Lay a piece of deli paper over the top. Take a rubber mallet or hammer and pound the flower into the paper. It takes a bit of pratice to learn how not to pound to hard or to soft to get it right. But you can peek by lifting a corner of the deli paper to see how you are doing. You can layer the flowers and also pound leaves and ferns ect. When you are done seal it with some mat medium.

These are beautiful Nina! I’m wondering if the color fades over time? Your videos brought back a lovely memory of when my children were little. I used to enjoy taking them to the library, which had a couple of ponds nearby with ducks. They loved to pick tiny purple flowers with fern like leaves that grew in the grass there. I tried pressing some, but they were lost in a move, so I don’t know if they retained their color. I might have to go back and see if they still grow there in the Spring, as I would love to try your process of preserving them in my memory books. I will never forget the pride on their little faces when they handed me a handful of these beautiful little petals. They may have been weeds, but I couldn’t have been more happy if they were expensive roses! I need to record this story before I forget it again. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thank you for a wonderful video! I tried this today and it went well. Had to use tracing paper because I didn't have the Deli paper. I also used a very fine netting (tulle) which worked very well! It gave such a clear image. The glue does come through a bit so you have to keep that in mind until it dries. I also have a process where I put down wax paper, then the dried flowers and then a tissue over the flowers. Carefully 'paint' the glue on to the tissue. ( I think it is one part glue/one part water) I've been doing this method for years since that is how my mother taught me to do this process. You can then cut the wax paper to fit your card ( when dry) and insert a card under the wax paper/dried flower/tissue piece. I hope this is clear!
