Could I use cloth instead of construction paper? I would like to have reusable items for flower pressing.
@sundaysunshine Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I use 100% cotton fabric to press to reduce the amount of paper and it works wonderfully! A thing to keep in mind is that the texture of the fabric can imprint on the flower, in that case just use one sheet of paper between the fabric and flower to prevent it!

Which one is best to press flowers microwave or Iron box?
@sundaysunshine9 ай бұрын
I would only avoid white flowers to press in the microwave because they're more likely to yellow or brown! I have limited experience in pressing flowers in the microwave because it's my least favorite method overall, so you'll have to experiment and have fun with it!

Can we use white card stock for pressing flowers love?
@sundaysunshine2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for all your lovely comments! I haven't tried with card stock myself, I suggest you do a small test to see if the paper is absorbent. If a droplet of water doesn't easily absorb into the paper, it won't be the best to use for flower pressing. I hope this helps!

Can the flowers be pressed in the summer when flowers are blooming and used in a craft project over the winter? Do you have to use anything special to store them so they maintain their color and do not become brittle or moldy?
@sundaysunshine2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you absolutely can press them and store them for a later project! There are two ways I store my pressed flowers: 1. For larger pieces, I sandwich them between a few sheets of paper, slip them into a sheet protector and fill them up in a binder. The pressure from the stack keeps them protected and flat. 2. For smaller flowers, I keep them in tupperware, away from direct sunlight and with packs of silica beads to keep the moisture out. Sometimes thinner flowers in the tupperware will curl so that will be up to you if you want to store them by method #1!

Can it be done with printer paper or should it be construction paper like stated?
@sundaysunshine2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you totally can! I use computer paper in my presses all the time because it's absorbent, affordable and comes in a big pack! Just make sure that you microwave in very small increments to lessen the chance of any type of burning!

wish that you can share how to keep the color of dried flowers last longer, my flowers always fade away in 2-3 months.
@sundaysunshine Жыл бұрын
Naturally they will fade, but I found that keeping the pressings out of direct sunlight help immensely with having the colors stay vibrant longer!

Did you know you can add the color back to your dried flowers with markers? It works great, I have also used water colors with very minimal water.
@lachellelawson19873 жыл бұрын
Could you do this with whole roses?
@sundaysunshine3 жыл бұрын
Totally! As long as you remove some of the petals so it's not too thick! It will take many bursts for a rose to dry in the microwave, so be patient and monitor it closely!

When I do this it turns out terrible or nothing happens at all. :/ I have tried so many different flowers, techniques but nothing. They are either wet/sticky or just brown and wet/sticky. I’ve tried different temp, different microwave, different times

I know it's so disheartening and discouraging when the result is not what you were hoping for! I made a video about the best flowers and foliage to press as a beginner! Your success rate with those botanicals will be much higher and it'll help build your skill set to tackle more challenging flowers! Try it out:kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZC3aIOomt2qepI&ab_channel=SundaySunshine I can't wait to hear of your success soon!
