I have osteopenia and diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the hips 1 year ago. I do 1:1 weight session with a trainer and once a week at Osteostrong. I am currently going to PT for my hip arthritis with exercise and dry needling. PA wanted to inject my hip (granted I was in a lot of pain at the time) I said not yet. I'm 59. I follow all of Dr Doug's recommendations and looking forward to my repeat REMS. At the present my hip arthritis limits my walking long distances and I am an RN of 34 years so the concrete floors has taken it's toll I think. I find this information extremely valuable!! Thank you

I'm putting osteoporosis treatment on the back burner. I will next work on correcting arthritic hand pain after having cataract and hernia surgeries this summer, as well as injections for a neuroma on my left foot. The only treatment for osteoporosis I've done this year is algae cal and cutting back on omeprazole to twice per week. And my left femoral neck went from -3.0 to -2.5 in one year. My lumbar spine from -.2.7 to -1.9. I am putting the osteoarthritis treatment first, and next year I will work on your program more aggressively. I think my fracture risk is overrated by my doctor.

It sounds like you're taking a balanced approach, focusing on immediate concerns like arthritis while still making progress on bone health. The improvements in your DEXA scores are a positive sign, and it’s great that you’re addressing the root causes of your conditions. If you feel your fracture risk is being overstated, it’s always a good idea to discuss this with your doctor and consider getting a second opinion

I have osteoporosis in lower spine as well as osteoarthritis in same area. Several compression fractures then the osteoarthritis came on. I went on a protein based diet and added k2 as k7 and improved my osteoporosis 25% in 6 months with no exercise as I couldn’t. Got radio frequency ablation for the osteoarthritis and it lasted about 2 years.

I know that my arthritis is caused by eating too many carbs and sugar. When I am no carbs/ sugar, no pain. When I do eat them , within a couple of hours my knees and ankles hurt. Plain and simple. Just started rebounding on a mini trampoline to help me with osteoporosis. I do resistance training, too. I am not taking any prescriptions. Take good brands of supplements. 67 year old.

Do u mind to share your supplements? I have arthritis too.

Just stop eating grains and sugar. Low carbohydrate diet cured my pain.

Carnivore helps my arthritis immensely. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis since I was 18. I've been diagnosed with osteopenia, too. Stretches, exercises and walking.

I was diagnosed osteoporosis (-3.1 spine) a year ago. I have been exercising diligently resistance, op specific. A week ago I was diagnosed degenerate disc disease. Weighted vest, bouncing - any impact exercises are contraindicated. How do I navigate exercises for both my osteoporosis and my disc disease?

I have both OP and osteoarthritis. It is quite severe in my right thumb (dr wanted to do trapezium surgery, but I was afraid to). Also have OA in my neck and knee (PT done for knee). The OA limits my weightlifting, and some exercises like planks aggravate my neck. I do eat red meat, dairy and wheat. I haven't noticed any particular 'flare up' bc of them but I guess it's hard to know without stopping them.

Dr, I just bought your book on menopause! Looking forward to receiving it. Impact training like jumping can wear down the joints, right?

Would LOVE your opinion. I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis last Spring. ONE of the supplements I am taking daily is Vitamin K2. However, I am not taking the typical 100 mcg. of it in the MK7 form. I am taking 35 MILLIGRAMS ( 35,000 mcg. ) . I cannot FIND the 35 MG in the MK7 form . Do YOU feel it is worth my continuing to take the MK4 form of 35 MILLIGRAMS, Sir ? Thank you ! Today is 11-7-2024 .❤️

I have both. My knee arthritis really flares up when I add dairy to my diet. I've been plant-based for several years (feeling good) and my doctor recently said I need to add dairy for the extra calcium and protein. Bad mistake - my knees really swelled up painfully after having some milk and cheese. I'm now calming it down with turmeric, ginger, CBD, and boswellia. I guess I will take calcium supplements and protein shakes.
