The harshest chemicals we put in our hair: dyes and bleach. I was touching up my roots every three weeks and noticed my hair was thinning by age 44. Doctors found no cause. I stopped coloring my hair, and it stopped breaking off and falling out. It’s thick, shiny, and healthy now. I prefer being silver over being nearly bald.

I am only 41 but I had to have a total hysterectomy that threw me into menopause and my hair fell out very quickly. I have done a lot of research on this, and one thing I strongly recommend is hair masks once weekly. Your hair can become very brittle and dry and this really helps. Also, make sure you are taking biotin. Leave your hair down as often as possible. Pulling it up and putting that pressure on your hair can really cause it to fall out. Use oils and leave-in conditioners.

I am 60 years old. I don’t have to shave my legs often at all. Maybe once every 3 weeks. That’s the up side. Losing hair on head came just in the last year but I also lost 45 lbs and I was not eating. That started my hair to fall out. Now I take Biotin, purchased a laser head band and put Rogaine on my scalp every night. I already see improvement.

After 20 years of veganism, I feel a great lack of important vitamins and minerals and I have various symptoms that face premenopause..I was vegan for almost 20 years and everything was ok (because I seem to have a large supply of all the vitamins in my body). But now I have started to get all the serious symptoms of vitamin B12 and D deficiency and because of that I have to stop veganism, so that the symptoms do not turn into chronic diseases. I'm 40 and I don't know if I have symptoms of vitamin deficiency or am I premenopausal..

@AvogelCoUk

Hi Linda After the menopause you do need to be more careful with iron but most supplements tend to have quite a low dose which should be OK, also, if you are vegetarian or vegan you probably will need extra. It may be a good idea to get your iron levels checked every now and again just to make sure you are not deficient. Great to hear that you loved the video, thank you!

Hi Marie, the menopause can really play havoc with your hair. As well as hair loss, it is very common for hair to become dry and brittle. We would recommend you speak to your doctor again. Hair loss can also be an indication that you have low vitamin D levels and low iron so it might be a good idea for your doctor to rule these out as well.

Many women go through life and menopause and their hair never get's thinner. Others get thinner and thinner. What do you mean when you say it can be thinner both on the scalp area and the thickness of the hair too? Also if you start taking estrogen will your hair get thicker again?
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Miranda, by thinning hair, generally I mean visibly thinner, which often makes the scalp look more prominent. However, some women also notice the texture of the hair changing, so the hair itself can feel finer or coarser. As you mention, some women don’t notice a change in their hair at all. For those who do, often it can be fluctuations in oestrogen which can cause a problem during this time. As a result, symptoms often tend to calm post-menopause, as despite oestrogen levels being lower, the fluctuations have started to calm. Therefore, some gentle oestrogen support in the form of soy isoflavones can be helpful during menopause to help manage hair complaints and any other symptoms, but we wouldn’t generally recommend this post-menopause. Other common causes of thinning hair can be low iron or underactive thyroid, so you may want to have any of necessary tests at the doctor and consider other relevant supplements to help support your hair during this time. There are also more general hair supplements available, such as our Hair Complex. I hope this helps.

I found out a week ago big bald patch the size of 50p coin, I am waiting for blood results for Thyroid but I am fairly sure it isn't that. I usually go to the gym every day! But since all this I am avoiding it as don't want to wash my hair. I have switched to Organic Certified Shampoo and Conditioner, taking Menopause Support tablets. I feel that I can never get back to my normal exercise life, purely because of this hair loss. Please can you advise anything else to look at, I have watched nearly all your videos now and am scared that i will now put on weight being less active than I was before this hair loss. Hi Hopefully, the tests will indicate what's going and you can then start to treat it. In the meantime you may find a specific hair supplement can help; just ask at your local health store. If you are missing the gym why don't you get a sports hat to wear whilst exercising, these don't look out of place and will make you feel more confident. Quite a few of the ladies at my gym wear hats especially in the cold weather and you can get some really nice, fancy ones!

There are many different kinds of HRT so it is best to discuss specifics with your doctor and they can advise you as to which would be the most appropriate for your circumstances. Hi Gina, if you are being treated for high/low levels of thyroid and are on medication, you have to be very careful as these medications are dangerous to interfere with. If you have not been diagnosed for this, then go to your doctor, ask them to do your bloods and check your thyroid function. Get a copy of your blood results, if they are abnormal. Then you have a choice to take what the doctor prescribes to you, or see a good naturopath, to seek advice. Seek advice either way, but it is imperative that say if you are taking thyroid Meds. You mentioned your scalp, cap use/take Molkosan, keep bottle in fridge, rinse your hair with diluted Molkosan you can also take Molkosan everyday helps the digestive system, it's also an antiseptic, gargle for sore throat mouth. Treats wounds also, my grandchildren drink by the neck. It's actually A/Vogel product. Also take Urticalcin 6 under tongue in the morning, it's calcium with stinging nettle which helps the body absorb the calcium easier, so if your taking other calcium then change to Urticalcin. Best wishes Lucy ps. If you are looking for information on illness and disease, look at Jan De Vries, who has just passed this last few years. How does Black cohosh work for the hair?
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Hilda Poor hair in the menopause can be caused by a number of things but very often falling oestrogen is a contributory factor. Black Cohosh and other phyto-oestrogen supplements such as our Menopause Support provide small amounts of plant oesteogens that can help to gently raise and balance oestrogen levels; that can have a protective action for the hair. However, it is still important to make sure that you are getting enough protein and vits and minerals that are needed for good hair growth too.

Hi You could try our Neem Shampoo which is for an itchy scalp. I would also suggest a haie supplement for improving hair growth and condition; you can get these at your local health store.

Mam....which vitamin is gud for liver inflammation
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk 2 жыл бұрын
Hi It would really depend on what's causing the liver inflammation and if this has been diagnosed as liver disease. I would recommend seeking the advice of a Herbalist who can formulate a personalised treatment plan for you and also liaise with your doctor if you are taking medication for this already. Best Wishes Eileen

@AvogelCoUk 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Hilda First thing to do is check with your doctor as low iron, low thyroid function, low vitamin D or B12 can all affect hair growth and your doctor can test for these just to rule them out. You can then find a good hair supplement at your local health store, they can advise on one for your situation and age. Check your diet to make sure that you are getting enough nutrients from your food so lots of fresh foods and protein at every meal. Dehydration can also be a factor so remember to drink lots of plain water every day, over and above your other drinks. Best Wishes Eileen

Unfortunately, I don’t know this brand of shampoo, however, natural ones with no chemical ‘nasties’ are usually good for the hair.

Hi Norma, Iv'e not used this one either but it does look good. Why not ask at your local health shop, they will have a variety of natural and organic shampoos and can, maybe, recommend one that they use themselves.

FASTING?
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk Жыл бұрын
Hi Caroline I tend not to recommend fasting in the menopause as it can really disrupt blood sugar control, and this could make symptoms worse however, some women do find it helpful. Best Wishes Eileen

Get your self some hormone replacement therapy! Bio Identical hormones are the best! Then you won't lose hair.

I'm on hormone replacement but not bio identical. My doctor put me on pills. I believe it was a high dose. Then she lowered it. It started making me nauseous. I told I couldn't continue it cause I didn't start losing all my hair til she put me on it.. She now has me on a patch. I went thru menopause at 32 from a total hysterectomy. Idk what's causing all my hair loss to the scalp. I'm going to a dermatologist see what's going on.
