I've been installing NUVO's in homes for years and they work great. I haven't had any issue with my water heater so everything seams to be good. I am going to do a flush on it in a couple days. So I'll see how it is "real world" doing it's job.

If you go to thread on your nipple , before screwing in , screw counter clockwise first to set your threads up, then screw in tight Same with bolts and nuts 🔩
