Suppressor walk off is when a pistol suppressor loosens from the barrel threads of a handgun which can cause end cap or baffle strikes. This video goes over different methods to prevent suppressor walk off to keep your pistol suppressor tight on your firearm.

So what I'm hearing is Sig did it right with the thread pitch everyone despises. And it screws on a lot faster then 1/2x28

Its insane to me that metric LH threads are known to prevent this, yet most factory barrels and all aftermarket barrels in the US are still 1/2x28 RH. Hoping the teflon will be as effective.

the threads are made for flash suppressors so not surprising they're not a good suppressor solution. Its just what everyone has already.

This trick works. It really works. Been doing this for 2 years. Be sure to test how many wraps it takes for your threads. Too few turns and it wont work. To many and your suppressor will not thread on fully. Ony wrap the threads and nothing else. My rig takes 2 1\2 turns. Good luck and happy PFT PFT!!!

It appears from the video that you've installed the teflon tape against the shoulder, despite the warning not to do so. There is no need to run the teflon tape back that far as there aren't even threads on my pistol or piston in that area. Also, you recommend left-hand threads, but most of what I've seen on the market is 1/2x28. Would love a 1/2x28 threaded barrel with opposite twist rifling.

I LOVE you guys and LOVE my Obsidian 45, but freakin hell with the teflon tape! I have tried this and it does not work on my G19 w/ Silencerco barrel. It starts out ok but eventually starts to walk. Again, with love, it is wholly unacceptable that this industry keeps using antiquated thread systems that loosen on the front of a firearm. My first time out with my new Obsidian 45 was met with an end cap strike because of this. You guys very graciously sent me a new one right away, so no complaints there. Having said all that, I have just ordered Griffen Armaments’ Cam Lok system. I am hoping this will put an end to my can walking while shooting under stress. I look forward to the day when we were all sitting around the campfire talking about the days when threaded silencers came loose on firearms. I will greatly enjoy the knee-slapping belly-laughs when somebody says “Remember when they used to tell us to use Teflon tape!!!!” 🤣🤣🤣 Much Love, Max

@@MaxairEngineering Glad to hear that it worked. I have a Rugged Obsidian 45 on the way. Got a pair of Griffin Armament CAM-LOC pistons (one is none, two is one....), barrel adapters, and comp/thread protectors for my PPQ45, P99AS, and HK Mark 23. Going into suppressor ownership making every effort to minimize walk off.

Thank you for posting this information. The Cam Lok system looks superior in every regard vs plumbers tape. The people at Griffin Armament are very nice and took the time to speak with me on the phone to ensure I understood everything properly before I ordered.

I am running a rugged tri lug mount on my silencerco omega 9k and have shot about 1,000 rounds out of an APC9. The suppressor will now twist off if I wiggle the can back and forth without pushing in on it like before. It only does it on one side of the twist as twisting without pressing in on the other side stays locked like it should. Is there any trouble shooting tips I should do to fix this?

Why is that the case with metric left hand threads not walking off?
@Technie87
@Technie87 2 жыл бұрын
The bullet leaves the barrel twisting clockwise which apparently loosens the threads. On left hand threads, the bullet twist clockwise would tighten the suppressor, allowing it to virtually never come off.

My obsidian 9 walks off my CZ pistols after a couple shots without the teflon tape, but it gets tedious cleaning off the tape afterwards and putting it on each time.
