@@brianruperti I have a question, doesn't your SUV come with the cover that covers underneath the engine bay which makes you not see the ground floor. The reason I'm asking is because my 2020 corolla LE has the protective cover underneath the engine that if one had to drop a small tool while working on the engine it can be picked up instead of going under the car to pick it up. I will post a short clip later today to show you what I'm talking about
@brianruperti2 жыл бұрын
@@alvinsimba734 Hi Alvin, the cover you are talking about it actually not for tools. It is designed to reduce dust, contaminants, wind, and road noise from entering the engine bay. In fact, most mechanics would prefer the tool simply falls to the ground instead of getting stuck on a cover that needs to be removed to access the tool. Yes our SUVs come with this cover. Hope that helps.

Thank You very much for this tip. I have a 2007 Avalon with 208K miles and NEVER had a electrical problem till recently. The car would shut off often while driving and didn't understood why. I took it to the mechanic and he did a code test, which resulted in misfiring. He found after replacing coil...2 camshaft plugs were eaten through by mice, which he showed me. He replaced them and no problem since. But, he never told me how to terminate this problem with rodents, as I live in Pennsylvania. You just did and now on my way to Walmart to purchase these items. Thanks Again.

Good info. The place where the mice like to build their nest, in my experience, is under and around the brake booster. You got that spot with your spray. If you have a camp trailer or a fifth wheel trailer, the mice love to build their nests and eat the wires also. Take dryer fabric softener sheets and place them in all the outside compartments. Including the hot water heater and refrigerator electrical panel compartments. If you have a fifth wheel, I stuff the ventilation hole for the RV battery(s) with steel wool and use several sheets inside the large forward storage compartments. Also put sheets in the fifth wheel pin area. They will not build nests in these areas.

Nice! they say soaking cotton balls and using small zip ties to secure them here and there near the wiring is also good. Been reading up on this and my new 4runner is on its way . I'll be using your method here combined with a few soaked cotton balls on my new truck. Thanks for the video !

Hey Brian! This is a good hack - thanks! My mom drove a RAV4 and had mouse problems. Then I ended up with it and also had the same problem! Neither of us have ever had mice in any other make of car - just Toyota! That didn't keep me away though - I just got news that my dealership finally got an allocation of a RAV4 Prime for me! I can't wait (really enjoyed your video going over the Prime, btw)! I'll try the peppermint spray trick to keep the mice away this time. Any areas I should avoid spraying in the RAV4 Prime?
@brianruperti2 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris! Thanks for watching my channel! Congrats on the Prime, you will love it. I wouldn’t spray it directly into any sockets, but under the dust cover and in any tucked away spots seem to do the trick.

Awesome video and advice, just wondering if just the engine bay is where they go. Thinking under cab maybe good idea too. Getting my new 4runner by end of the month. Definitely going to do this.

Most of the time it’s engine bay and air intake. But with trucks it wouldn’t hurt to give a little extra here and there. Congrats on the 4runner! What trim and what color?

I wonder if you can spray the peppermint oil by itself, so it's more potent ?

Won’t the warm engine bay melt away the oil left after the water evaporates ?

I think it’s going to stick on their for a while because not every part of the engine gets so hot to smoke off the peppermint oil.
