I find the book binding process so fun. I like crafty things so maybe that is why. After you did your book tour and showed those fabric bound books I started binding books with fabric from scraps I already had. It's definitely more involved but so fun. Also if I do soft cover I print a cover and add some family photos or pics of the kids, I figured it makes it more fun for them to read if it's so personal. And it's a way to print some of those millions of photos we take but never do anything with.

Excellent video. For those intending to buy a printer, the technical term listed under each printer's specifications for printing on both sides is "duplex". Duplex can be automatic or manual. Avoid manual if possible because it wastes time and has the potential to mess up the page numbering and paper orientation. Hope this helps.

This was the information I needed. Thanks. Just one thing: This printer prints double sided on A5 paper also (which is the size of the pages after you cut them) so maybe if you buy the A5 paper, you can print double sided and you won't have to cut every page in half.

So funny, I planned on doing RC Book Binding today. I don't know why I enjoy these book binding videos so much 😄 I've seen all of yours. The one part I find tedious is the paper cutting. Getting a cheap guillotine paper cutter off Amazon has made it so much easier.

Books are printed in sections so they can be folded. Maybe you should print 1-2 chapters at a time or a certain number of pages at a time so that you don't need to cut the pages.

I really want to get into bookbinding and this video has been uper helpful! Thank you for all thr advice. One thing though, whenever I select booklet mode it always ends up mixing up the order of the pages. It puts the first and last pages together for me, working towards the middle. Is there any way to fix this without completely reordering the PDF before putting it into the software?

That’s how it’s suppose to be. If you cut the pages in half and like I did in the video when you put it together it comes out perfect.

I have a question: I accidentally pressed cancel on my printer halfway through printing the book (what a pain!) and I was wondering if you knew of any way to get the rest of the book printed the same way? but only specific pages since I have half the book printed haha. I don’t think so, not when you print in booklet format. I’ve been there myself, I know it hurts to waste all that paper.

For some reason when I print booklet it prints a margin in the middle that when I cut it with my paper cutter and then do the two hole punch, and put the prong thing in. When I go to flip through the book the inner parts of the edges are really tough to manipulate it open to read it well. I use Foxit and your tips for printing. Any tips?

Yes, Adjust the margins to be wider in foxit.

@@nbobrick17 I just got done printing with a 1.0” margin and it worked out great. However I also really really like the 8.5x11 size double sided. The font is so much better on the old eyes. Well my cruddy eyes anyway. Haha

@Amber Fencil lol I know what you mean! It's a much easier read. Id love to print full-sized, and then bind with 2 prongs. My 7 year old thinks it's weird, though, and likes me printing in booklet. I've even tried to print 2 pages per page, with the binding on the short edge (to avoid having to do any paper cutting), and she still doesn't like it. Sigh...

I wrote the book on google docs and saved it as a pdf, but should i change the page size on google docs (right now it's normal A4 size) before saving it or should i leave it the way it is?

Leave it the way it is. The booklet format will take care of size.

I found the foxit software and used it. Thank you. It still reduced the size of the font but to a more acceptable size.
