Want to SCALE your business? Go here: acquisition.com
Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

So valid!...Quick story - I did this 10 yrs ago when I realized I don't want the stress of figuring out if I would be able to sell enough to pay the bills. My dad said to me, you need a little drop every month from every customer, and it will eventually fill the bucket. Started charging $80/month to the first customer, and traded big checks for smaller checks every month, can't tell you how many times I was saved by this recurring revenue (I did CRM implementations), while traveling with my wife she got sick and then my baby boy had to be forced out and couldn't go back home for 8 months, barely worked, but I managed to pay the bills.

@@EDMisnothouse I hosted the CRM (open source) for them and included some maintenance hours. I will give them a lower implementation price if they pay the monthly option. It was a lot of work at first, actually the first few customers I sponsored the implementation cost myself, but eventually, it paid off and as I got reputation I got to charge more for the implementation. Lets say instead of charging 20K I would charge 5K and charge them between 500 to 1000 per month. Minimum stay was 3 years, average 7 years.

It's the same model RockStar -the video game company- uses to promote and sell their GTA's. That's why they don't release a game every year. They make the online experience better over time to the point where GTAV has run on stand alone for almost 10 years with recurring revenue.
@XTen1000DaysX
@XTen1000DaysX Жыл бұрын
Isn't rocket science, that model started awhile ago with subscription MMO games like world of warcract. Then in purchase revenue things like league of legends did in 2010. If gta still makes money there is no point in making a new game until profits decline( which they are now) so they will make a new one now to recapture profits and attention

this is how the cellphone carriers work… predatory for a one time commission sale, at the cost of customer trust, any long term relationship of value and brand reputation hit, too. when you have to coach a customer to rate you good on a survey, there’s an issue that you can’t trust your service to speak for itself.

So youre saying (with 850 youtube Subscribers - maybe you referr to another business account and not yours) - but anyway -- 8 figures.. So you saying you own a business that makes more than 10 MILLION ? .. - I do not even see a company.. (LLC or something) .. you website shows the basic (I show you how to get rich) template.. For me - okay Alex might be different.. but there are alot of "gurus" out there who claim to make 10th of millions.. but in reality.. they are just all doing the same shit.. : making as much videos / rells and content and get rich by clicks etc..

I don't have a business yet, but I learned to be a good sales guy just selling lawn programs with a company. I learned "selling" wasn't for me so much as educating the potential, why they needed me or my service vs other people. If you believe in yourself 100% you sale that to someone also. I learned from a very wealthy customer who started from selling toilets. It doesnt matter if you're selling toilets, pens or homes. Sell that belief

I read a story somewhere about a businessman who would go into a business and then fail. So after that he would try the same business again and find that he would much more easily succeed. We are naturally amazing at learning through repetition. Course correction and perfecting seems like a natural path to success.

You’re so right. Humans are set up like that. Think about walking. Or riding a bike. The first few time you try it, you suck. But then it gets easier the more you practice. That way if learning is inbuilt into our biology. We learn through failing.

I really enjoy your videos for the value you give, but I cannot stand to watch this overedited recent style of yours. The previous ones, where you were just talking to the camera were much easier to focus on. These just have too much going on visually that it's distracting. Also the earlier unedited ones gave some time to reflect on the information you give, if I try to reflect on any thoughts here, I find myself already missing the next thing, because it's so tightly edited. But probably it's what youtube demands. I guess I'll just listen to them in my car. No offence to the editor, well done, but I think the content is so good, that it just does not need any flashy stuff on the screen.
