Want to SCALE your business? Go here: acquisition.com
Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Hi, I’m one of the people who's life you have truly touched. I was in a dark place and life had treated me poorly. I didn’t get into the Universities I wanted to, after multiple attempts. I wasn’t working at a great job. I had basically given up on trying. Your videos saved me. I’ve systematically taken your life advice and applied it. I’ve turned my life around and I just wanted to thank you for what you have done for me.

I love this idea of adverse thinking. Sometimes I make myself feel guilty when I DONT do the things that contribute to my success. What I noticed on my way is two things: once I asked my mentors asked for advice this was only good if they are in the same Business (e commerce and here mainly meta ads). Only when a ecommerce pro told me it would take a lot of money to make ads work and how this works I was willing to do that and stay patient, while the other mentors just said: I don't know how you can find your customers. Other thing that's never arrived by any experts in my opinion (maybe Alex can talk about that one in a video): on the one hand you have to stay working and developing about your idea and to stay strong and believe in yourself, on the other hand your should not hang on the wrong ideas / keep running in the wrong direction. So how can I know whether I should keep going or stop?

Great list of steps. Step 29: listen to lots of videos similar to this one. I saw just one video so far, on the whole of KZbin, that demonstrated cold calling businesses to ask if they'd like your services. ONE! A simple process, that gives me anxiety, but watching that video at least gave me an idea on how such calls even work. Th channel Superhuman Life.

thank you alex! thank you for taking the time out of your day to help others who are all stuck in similar spots. there are a lot of youtube channels like yours but the way you deliver everything you say i personally feel like you are tryin to help people instead of other channels who you can tell just do it for the money. i enjoy coming home everyday from my shit job to watch your videos. ive been stuck in a loop for some time and after watching at least a video a day ive seen changes in my life. i may not enjoy myself 24/7 but thanks to you i understand im going to have to fail and feel discomfort in order to succeed for the first time in a long time i see myself going down a better path and a big reason for that is your content. thank you again and sorry for the essay you may never read

Energy flows where the attention goes. When you focus on the negative you're going to get negative. Have to keep the eyes on the prize instead of fixated on what you what you're fleeing from. Better yet through both negative and negative psychological reinforcement a person get reach their goal. By focusing on the best possible outcome and worse possible outcome if they fail to pursue it leverage can be generated.

You know what. I decided to live in a van. My cleaning career ended... Just like in Exodus, I applied for a few jobs this morning to, "go back". Ive passed a knowledge test at 100% to drive a heavy truck, had an invitation handle heavy machinery.. What the F am I doing by going back..?!!! Ive been inspired to take time out, despite running low on funds to start going to art classes.. That was my original plan with this lifestyle. I have my first class booked. My dream is to build a business using heavy machinery.. (Haulage or construction.. lets see where it leads.. To finally give myself permission to build something based on talent and not let anyone tell me, Im not good enough)

Logic can sometimes be our worst enemy. When ideas come flying at us it is imperative to not only explore every one of those ideas but to do so in an almost obnoxiously confident manner, with zero regard to logic. Because certain ideas only thrive in those conditions.
