My God I have been scouring the Internet and YT for concise info and details on the Processing aspect so I can get STARTED getting my Demos out there. After purchasing FabFilter bundles, and driving myself batty with overkill, I am SO SUPER GRATEFUL to you for simplifying the subject for us on this level my brother. THANK YOU BIGLY❤

Hey Lenny. Another great video, glad to see more stuff coming out recently. Still using the custom set up you did for me a while ago and still sounding great. Great working with you. May come back to you with a tweak or two...

I use the same mic in a room with just basic egg crate foam and hanging blankets, about as much as I'm allowed to do in my apartment.. This is the perfect video for me. Thank you.

What a massive improvement, Lenny. I'd been thinking about submitting something to see what you can do with the absolute dumpster fire of a room I'm working with, so maybe I'll finally get on that.

I'm one of those that has been on the fence for that past week or so. I've spent many years mixing live music and studio sessions, so I figured mixing a a stand-alone speaking voice would be a no-brainer. Not as easy as I thought, but my mix has improved. I will be very curious to see what you come up with compared to what I have, particularly in the EQing department. I will be sending you a sample soon. Thank you sir!

I recommend checking out Gullfoss Master and Acon Digital Deverberate 3 for anyone recording in untreated rooms. Gullfoss for taming harsh room resonances, and Deverberate 3 for reducing reflections. Both plugins utilize machine learning, while it can sound uncanny for live-action footage dialogue since they're reducing space, for cases when it's only your voice required for a run of the mill voice-over or commercial, they can be super useful! But then again what works for me, there's no guarantee that it will work well with your source material. I usually receive VO recorded with the following equipment: AKG C414 XLS, AT2020, Neumann TLM 102/103, Rode NT-1(A) ran through either one of the Focusrite Scarlett or Audient iD lineup of interfaces. Never had any issues fixing them up.

@hayal, thanks for your input. I met the folks from Sound Theory (Gullfoss) at the NAMM convention in June this year. Their plugins are fascinating!

Hey Lenny ... your videos are of great help. Thank you for creating such valuable content. I have a Neumann TLM 103 and am eyeballing your pop filter above. I have one, but it's huge. Where did you get yours? Thanks!

Yes, I'm not %100 sure but I think it's the "Auray Foam Windscreen for Zoom H4n." I believe I got it off of Amazon. Hope this helps.

Hey Lenny...I love your videos! I'm just getting started with a podcast, and I'm using Adobe Audition. I've heard that the Audition noise gate is not the greatest...would you recommend the Scheps Omni Channel noise gate? If not, can you suggest another to use with a Mac, please?
@HeyLennyB
@HeyLennyB Жыл бұрын
Hi @Architectureguy. Thanks for reaching out. Actually, I like the expander (not the Auto Gate) in the "Dynamics" plugin that Adobe Audition has onboard. Dialing that in properly is as good as any other gate/expander to remove noise on a voice in my opinion.

@@HeyLennyB Thanks for the response! I actually purchased the Omni Channel some time back, and have just been too busy try and learn it. I'm also working on a do-it-yourself vocal booth that I'm putting together in my unfinished basement...it's in a corner at concrete wall. I'm really hoping for good results! Your videos have really helped me get an idea of what sounds good.

Hi Lenny, why do so many VO talent use UA Twin Audio Interface? Can you create a similar sound with Audacity and a good interface and would anybody really notice the difference?
@HeyLennyB
@HeyLennyB Жыл бұрын
Hi @TinyLittleFilms. This is such a great question. The Apollo line is famous because it offers excellent quality and it's sexy. I own many Universal Audio products. However, it is not necessary to be a successful voice-over artist. You can create HQ recordings with a Focusrite 2i2 (or other comparable budget interfaces), and if produced correctly, no one would notice a difference. The key phrase is "produced correctly!" Thanks for watching and taking the time to ask great questions!!!

Hey man I love your videos thank you so much for passing on your knowledge with the rest of us! Quick question? Can fab filters pro q3 do the same job as the f6? or do you find the f6 to be the be all of dynamic eq's?
@HeyLennyB
@HeyLennyB Жыл бұрын
Schpacky, I believe the ProQ3 is incredible. It's worth every penny. If you are EQ-ing different material on a regular basis, it's the best. However, If you are looking for a lower-cost option with similar features, the F6 is fantastic. They are similar, but the F6 has a few features the ProQ3 doesn't. And the ProQ3 has a few that the F6 is missing. I tend to use and suggest the F6 more often because there's a better chance that voice-over artists (especially beginners) can justify the lower price.

Hi Lenny😊 Love your content! Just out of curiosity, which mic do you use in these videos?
@HeyLennyB
@HeyLennyB 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Blake, I use a Neumann TLM 103 on this video. However, I will say that the preamp I'm using (before going into my Apollo X6) is pretty amazing. The preamp is the X73i by Vintech. I add just a touch of EQ before tracking. Then, I use the same type of custom preset that I talk about in my videos. Generally, it's a parametric EQ plugin, then the Scheps Omni Channel by Waves.

@@HeyLennyB Thank you so much for all the info! I’m upgrading my interface in the next couple months, and the Apollo Twin is one pretty high on my list. Hear you use UA is really helpful.
