How to Program A Genie Remote to your Garage Door Opener

Learn how to quickly and easily program a garage door remote to open your garage door. These instructions are directly from the owners manual for the Model 1128B, but will work with most Genie Openers.
Please note we are using a 3-button Genie remote to pair with the Genie Opener, other company's remotes may not pair with your Genie Opener.

Those buttons are specifically used for the programing of Genie Aladdin App Wifi. These button will be on the 1128B, 3120, and 6170 jackshaft.

I am trying to program two remotes for my genie opener. I programmed one remote and it worked. Then I programmed a second remote and it worked, but then when I tried the first remote, it no longer worked. I reprogrammed it and the other remote now does not work!

Please make sure not to clear the opener memory when programing the second remote.

Yes, you need to clear the memory on the garage door opener. This will remove all devices programed to the opener. After you have cleared the memory you can reprogram any remotes you have left to the opener.

Troubleshoot for signal interference. Genie has an article on their website: store.geniecompany.com/blogs/genie-blog/garage-door-opener-remote-reduced-range-or-radio-frequency-interference We have seen in the past signal interference from the lightbulbs. Try unscrewing your lightbulb and programing. If that works, the lightbulb was the issue.
