How To Program A Toyota Sienna Remote Key Fob 2004 - 2010 DIY Tutorial

An easy to follow video tutorial on how to program a remote key fob for a 2004 - 2010 Toyota Sienna.

1. Start with the key out of the ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and drivers door is unlocked.
2. Perform these steps within 5 seconds.
A. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.
B. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.
3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Close then open the drivers door.
B. Close then open the drivers door.
C. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.
4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Close then open the drivers door.
B. Close then open the drivers door.
C. Insert the key into ignition and leave it in ignition.
D. Close the drivers door.
E. Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF.
F. Remove the key from the ignition.
5. Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.
6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote key fob clicker simultaneously for 1.5 seconds.
B. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, Press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock and then unlock once indicating successful programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps A and B in step 6 as the remote key fob was not accepted.
C. Repeat steps A and B in step 6 for each new remote fob clickers.
7. Open drivers door.
This programming procedure will program a remote key fob clicker on the following years of Toyota Sienna : 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010

This worked GREAT! I'm older and had to write down each step so I had it in front of me as I did it and as long as you follow this exactly, easy-peasy, the door lock will cycle, hold the lock & unlock buttons on the fob for just a second, let go and then press the lock button alone and the door lock cycles again. I did two fobs, one right after the other and both fobs are programmed. Trust me, if I can do it - YOU can do it!

Worked on my 2005 Toyota Sienna. This procedure was slightly different from the source I was given with remote I bought online. Difference was in last step - THIS VIDEO: Insert Key, Close door, Igntion On to Off and remove key. OTHER SOURCE: Insert Key, ingnition ON back to OFF 2 times then remove key (no closing the door). So if this video procedure does not work, try that I guess.

@@Vitalorgan934 Funny enough my rear doors are no longer automatic because the cables that used to draw them back rusted and broke like many of the older sienna models so I’m not sure that I ever tried it :/ my trunk button works though if that helps

2008 sienna with duel sliding doors and these instructions on the website worked great for me. I did notice when I programed the doors, it locked and unlocked, but I got out of the car and both doors and trunk worked using the fob.

FYI, I have a 2007 Sienna, at the part (4E) where I need to turn the key ignition, I have to do it twice to work. The rest of the instruction was great! Just want to let anyone know if they have any problem with just turning the ignition once as the video instructed.

My sienna doesn't actuate the door.. but the remote I bought from autozone doesn't say it's capadable with sienna. Only other toyotas. But that's all they have...do I need the one like yours for the sienna to recognize the remote? I didn't even check if there's battery. There should be.lol

omg! Thank you. I thought my fob was dead. Almost ordered a new one today but tried this. I changed the battery on my fob first and used a can of air to clean out the inside of the fob. Then followed you video and BOOM!

Hey @program your remote, i have a problem, I have a 2006 sienna, I tried this procedure, but nothing happens after I press the lock and unlock key when I reach the final step. I have new batteries installed in my key fob. I located the key fob receiver under the dash and it's securely plugged in. I even disconnected the battery to try to reset the cpu. The antitheft light is also flashing when key is not in the ignition. It all started when the key fob was randomly not working. Then it stopped working all together. Replaced the batteries, went through the procedure and it still doesn't sense the remote. I'm super confused. Please help.

Its possible either the lock or unlock button has broken on the remote. I would recommend replacing the remote as a first step.

Odd... entered program mode, registered as noted giving me lock unlock confirmation. Exited but nothing happens when I test the fob. Could you suggest what issue could be?

It's possible there just is an issue with the remote fob you are using. It's also possible that there may be too many remotes already programmed to the vehicle, you can have a maximum of 4 remotes programmed at time. To erase all previous remotes and add additional ones, instead of simply adding additional remotes, you just need to do one step differently. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video and look at step "4. E." you need to to turn the ignition from On to OFF 5 times instead of once, to erase previous remotes. Also when you do this the door locks should cycle 5 times to indicate programming mode.

Then it was suggested that I may need a new wireless door lock controller. So that is the next step. Still definitely appreciate the video and thanks for responding so quick.
