FYI on some older cars alfaobd cannot read the pin. But, you can go to the dealer parts dept and they can look up your pin for you. Depending on the laws of your state they might have to make a photo copy of your registration and license and/or title (proof of ownership) to keep on file before giving you your pin, but that's easy. Once you have your pin everything else he showed is the same.

Did it allow you to start the vehicle also? The buttons use a different transmitter than the keyless ignition in the fob. He never started the vehicle

Thanks I bought one of eBay for $20 the only difference was the ram logo was missing off the back of the fob, so I swapped boards with the OEM that was no longer working so the new board was inside the old plastic housing. Programming worked just like your video said it would. The only thing is you skipped through the radio hub kind of fast had to look at another video.

I have 2014 Ram 1500 Sport with push to start ignition like yours. I followed your tutorial but after inserting PIN and beginning the Highline key fob programming procedure by selecting “Start” in AlphaObd app, I received an error message “Failed. Security access denied”…”Ignition is not in LOCK position. Set ignition in LOCK and restart the procedure”. My push to start ignition was in “ACC” position at the time. Any ideas? Cuz I don’t know how to proceed further.

Unless you pay for the full version of AlfaOBD it won't work. It's $49.95 to retrieve the PIN. My local locksmith programmed my $29.95 fob from ebay for my 2016 RAM 1500 and cut the key for $60.00. That's the safer route IMO.

Yes but AlfaOBD is great to have. You only have to pay for it once and it can be used on multiple vehicles. You can do a lot more than just program keys with it.

I purchased two key fobs and OBDLink MX+ for my ‘14 Ram 1500. What I did not do is remember/pay attention to 1) that DL is only for android or pc. (I have MacBook and iPhone) I do have an old Dell laptop. 2)either I got the link to download and didn’t or I just didn’t do it. I’m not good with any of this. Is there a way I can get the free download? I have proof of purchase through Amazon. I did read, today, that DL was only good for so long immediately after purchase. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Any help is appreciated. They sell them separately. I tried to install the app on my PC after buying it on my phone and it wouldn't let me use it with a license which you buy separately from the android version. I think they offer a discount if you buy it for both.

Your pin is like the SS number for your truck kind of. The pin stays the same unless you have a 2019+ model ram at which they switched to rolling codes and we can no longer program keys on our own.

Unfortunately you can't repair it and you'll most likely need a new key. My cheap eBay key did the same thing. It's just the risk you take I guess

Tried this method on my 2014 Jeep Cherokee and unfortunately for my case, it thinks my key is the physical key even when selecting the high line system. Gives me “Please ensure un-programmed FOBIK is in the ignition, and ignition lock is in LOCK state.”

Tried this and it failed. I have 2020 Ram 2500 and was trying to "READ PIN" in "Alfa OBD app" for Key Fob programing. It did not work, app said that "my truck has 5 digit rolling pin number" and that option isn't support yet. Any FIX to that by Alfa OBD and OBDLink MX?

I believe in 2019 Ram started using rolling codes for the key fobs and we can no longer program them ourselves. Security/more easy money for the dealership.

I wonder. Has anyone tried this method with the Vlink MC+ instead of the Obdlink MX+ ? I know AlfaOBD website says the Vlink MC+ works with Alfaobd in general. But it doesn't say if the key fob programming feature superficially, will work with Vlink MC+. I mean it also doesn't specifically say the Obdlink MX+ works with the key feature either. I got all the way to read pin and it just kept saying interface error, told me a couple of things to try in preferences and still would not work. So 139. for obdmx+ and 50. for alfaobd app. Out 200 bucks. Epic fail.

I followed this and the fob works, car starts but the keyless entry (door unlocks when I touch the handle) does not work, I have to push the button on the fob to lock/unlock the car. Not sure I I choose the wrong highline system in AlfaODB??

@@The_Original_Trail_Limo I talked to the supplier of the key and it is not supported, their version of keyless entry does not include what is considered Keyless entry by the rest of us. I guess you have to get a dealer key and not a cheapo ebay key like I bought

@@scottcpan68 yes and yes. I contacted the ebay seller of the FOB who claimed keyless go was supported but his definition of keyless go is not the same as Dodge's.......keyless go to seller means push button start.... so that is the problem, you need the OEM key fob for that to work

Help please...I did this exact procedure 4 times with 3 e-bay new keys like the one in your video and 1 OEM key..ALL programed fine like your in the video....UNTIL i drove the truck and shut it off...First time i thought it was ok and drove the dog to the park,shut off the truck and it wouldnt lock,I tried to start it and nothing.I had to call the wife to bring me my old keyfob..same thing with the next and then i bought a obdlink instead of the VeePeak i was using and same thin happened....the last time i got a reman oem fobik and everything seemed fine started it in the drive and shut it off 5 times,then drove it around the block,pulled in the drive and shut it off and same thing the fobik went dead..wont even start the truck if you push the button with it. And when you try and program it again AlfaOBD says "Failure:Fobik already learned"...i'm using a OBDLink MX and AlphaOBD ..and thoughts or suggestions.

Any idea what it cost to have a new fob made? $500 for the computer to make one key is a bit much for me. I bought a used charger and it only came with one key. The dealer won’t make a second and says they charge too much he doesn’t recommend it. I didn’t think of it before I put the down payment on it.

I think this is common with the 2013 rams (not sure what year you have) when using the cheaper keys. I just had the same problem and ordered an expensive Mopar official fob with a replacement warranty.

No. Any basic OBD dongle will work. The MX+ does allow access to other systems though, such as ABS module, etc... that the cheaper ones may not.
