Just wanted to say. I had a old 02 trailblazer, scraped it, and kept the key FOB sad a keepsake. Just got my 04 trailblazer with one FOB. Now I’ve got 2 FOB’s that work! So they are interchangeable on the years of trailblazer if someone is wondering! Thank you for the easy video, now I can keep my first cars FOB on me, and it’s practical.

@mostlypeacefulmisterputin Жыл бұрын
*Yea I got this same deal for my 2003 Yukon XL a couple years ago…they were easy to program, then after about a month the primary fob stopped working completely.* *Started using the secondary fob, and after a couple months the battery went dead, I replaced it with a new battery, 2 days later the battery was dead again.* *Went out and bought another battery, used a multimeter and checked the voltage right out of the package and it was good.* *Put it in and 2 days later it was dead, and not just low/dead…it was under 1 volt ((a new CR2032 battery starts out at around 3-3.25 volts).* *Stopped using that fob and haven’t been able to get another one to program to the truck since! It enters programming mode but immediately exits on its own as soon as you release the lock button (horn beeps a second time to confirm it’s out of programming mode).* *Guess that’s what I get for cheaping out originally and buying cheap Chinese knock-offs!*

Something is going on, I have had no issues with the cheapo fobs or batteries going dead. Popping out of programming mode is probably a clue.

Before you purchase a new fob(s), try this and see if you can salvage your old one(s). Carefully open up the fob with a penny on the indent located on the bottom right (with the buttons facing you). Separate the front and back halves. Take out the battery and check to make sure it is not weak with a battery tester. If unsure, change with a new battery. Dollar stores may have them cheap. Clean the battery contacts gently with 91% or better isopropyl alcohol using a Q-tip. You can then separate the rubber button pad from the circuit board. Wash the rubber button board with soapy water and a use toothbrush to clkean any stuck muck, rinse and let dry thoroughly. Next, clean the contact area on the circuit board with Q-tips and alcohol until shiny. Or alternately you can use a soft pencil eraser (not a hard ink one!). Wipe clean with alcohol afterwards. You can wash the muck out of the case with soapy water and dry thoroughly, too. Carefully insert the new battery with the + terminal up, facing you. Reassemble the fob. Try it to see if it works. If not, you can reprogram from Axel's instructions, taking care to do it EXACTLY as he says. I did this and my two fobs work and look like brand new. Saved $$$. Thanks, Axel, for your straight to the point instructions.

Thank you so much! I just found out today that my keys don't work on my 2006 Trailblazer door lock. I never even tried to use the key to lock/unlock the door before today. I've always used the fob and never needed to use the key except for the ignition. Oh boy! I have to rely on my key fob and I only have one. 😟 I looked into getting the lock replaced....NOPE! Way too spendy! I will be going to Amazon and buying 2 spare fobs. Thanks again for your help! Looking forward to having a couple of spares! 😊 In fact, I might even get 4 spares and give one to each of my kids one because you never know when/if you lock yourself out of the car! It's easier (and cheaper) to call one of my kids than it is a locksmith! 🔑

Notes: 1) When turning the key on then off, do so rather quickly. If delay too long, programming mode will not be entered. 2) Once programming mode has been entered, all prior key fob settings are erased, so program all fobs you have, in the order that you desire to be called ... Driver 1, Driver 2, etc.

Ace *IS* the place! Make no mistake, if you allow Amazon to put them out of business, because you don't have enough money to go to ACE, then you need a new job, or a new outlook on life. You can sell out to china all you want, but I'm going to have hardware on demand in my area, because I'm not a penny pinching douche. I enjoy being able to get something today, rather than waiting 2 or 3 days for amazon. I wish cheapskates could see how stupid they are!
