This product is tricky. I even returned one. I finally read a review that help me program the timer strip. Basically 2 rows of outlets - one timed the other not timed. I pulled the plastic strip on the back to start the clock battery. Programmed the clock with clock day-hour- minute (am/pm). So far so good. Next, able to program like 7 different stops and gos. Seems excessive. I just wanted cable box off at 11 pm and on at 6:00 am. So pressed Prog for program 1. Next pressing Day button pressed until all 7 days showed up. Pressed hour on at 6 am and off at 11 pm. One program and done. Now the Mode is also tricky. Has Auto, Off and On. I was setting the strip up around 10 am when I was all set and place the Mode to Auto. Plugged the thing in, turned on the red power switch. Nothing happened. No power. Placing the Mode to On- that worked. Off that also worked. Just no power with auto. Here is the trick. Return to the Program 1 time ON and set it for a couple minutes from now. Say 10:15 am. Then the power strip, in the AUTO mode, will trip the circuit. On came the power. Go back to Prog 1 time On and reset back to 6 am. Now it works regularly. Instructions were not much help. Good luck.

You don't need to do the time schedules everyday unless the times differ. If the times are the same, you just use the everyday setting. There are also single day, week, and weekend settings. Just a tip to save you time! Thanks for the easy step by step explanation.

k..having some trouble, I have set both day lights on at 7am off at 7pm and have todays day/time set correctly,however when I set mode to auto they turn off??mode on turns them on and mode off turns off..currently it's 1:30pm so should be on I have unplugged and reset several times.Should they not both be on when I set auto??

Random is because this is actually a GE timer and random will randomly turn on outlets + or - 30 mins so potential thiefs wont see all deterents turn on at the same time.

Did you read the manual?? You explained things clearly, but WRONG! At 4:30 you say 'That was for day 1".NO! the display shows MO TU WE TH FR SA SU. The times you set are for program 1 and are for all days of the week. At that point you can press DAY and select any single day, all week days, sa and su, or all days. The fact that they provide 7 programs could be confusing since there are 7 days of the week, also. But, dude, you said you reviewed this product. That means reading the manual!

You got everything right, except the day settings. If the days showing are all 7, then whatever you set in "Program 1" will apply to all those days. If you want a particular day then you have to toggle the "day" button until you get the day or days you want. i.e. All days, or weekdays, or Sat Sun, or individual days etc. Random is for setting lights while you are away and want it to look like you are home for any potential burglars .

I noticed the setup I have has Program 1 - Program 8. So if I want the lights to come on Monday-Sunday from 7am - 7pm I program #1 with monday - Sunday listed for this time only? I do NOT need to Program - program 2 - 8? In his video he said program 1 was Monday, 2 - tuesday, 3 wednesday, etc... is this incorrect?

I have it all set for the whole week and my lamps plugged where they need to be day and night and it dont work. Its opposite my night come on when my day bulbs are suppose to be on and day light off when suppose to be off

Okay I realize this video is 10 years old and it was very helpful with setting everything up but still had a few issues with proper function. Adding this comment in case all newer models are like this. But to the point, I have to have the power strip on "on" mode for it to run its timed on/off schedule. If it's on "auto" the lights just stay on 24/7. Maybe mine is a one off with its programming, maybe it's newer programming for all of them. Either way I'm not buying another to figure out lol. I also bought a kasa smart power strip around the same time and I regret not buying 2 of them at the time. Kasa has an app that let's you program each of the 6 outlets independently from each other. Hope this was helpful.

This was very helpful, thanks! I didn't realize that you have to cycle it once in order for the lights to come on. I was confused why my lights weren't turning on after I programmed it during day light hours. I found out that it's because it has to cycle through to the next turn on time for it to work. If there is anyone else with this concern this is what tech support told me at Zilla.

We are using this power center to power our cart of 30 netbook computers. 1/2 the cart has one power cord, the other 1/2 has another power cord. Should one half be 'night' and the other 1/2 be 'day'? We thought we would have half the cart charging at a time. Maybe 1 hour of charging per side, then switch? That way we can maximize the number of netbooks at any given time that have a full battery charge. LOVE YOUR VIDEO! Thank you for going to that trouble.

After you hit the “PRG” button you can just set the times once. You DONT have to do all 7. If you want different days to have different times or you want to set weekdays/weekends to diff times thats when you would use 2-7 on the “PRG” setting. To set different times on different days you can 1. Use the “PRG” button 2. Press the “Day” button a. It will switch between each day then Weekdays/weekends. Whatever day(s) are highlighted up top will be the day(s) affected by that programming

I still have some questions? Is it only One timer? I need a timer for my tortoise he uses 3 light sources. I need to find one that is affordable and accommodate his needs. He needs 12 hours of UVB light everyday and I would need to set this bulb to turn on at 7 am. Along with his daytime basking bulb. Then at 7pm I need for these two lights to turn off. I need to have another timer set for his night time Heat bulb to come on at 7 pm and turn off at 7 am. Would this product work for me?

This video is incorrect. The program number does not correspond to the day of the week. The "day" button allows you to change the MO TU WE TH FR SA SU icons at the top. The numbers correspond to different program schedules.

I have a different timer but everything is the same except there are no designated day or night outlets. one question I cant get answered anywhere is how do you program individual outlets to do different times? They give us 4 outlets to set with the timer but no way to get them to activate indivually. I'm getting ready to throw it away and do everything manually.

I set all the times and did everything correct but when I change the mode to auto the day bulbs turn off and the night bulb turns on. Why? When mode is set to on, the day bulbs are on and night bulb is off is there a glitch? If I leave the mode setting at "on" will the day bulbs still turn off when scheduled and night bulb turn on? on mine, (same thing) the 2on,off, 3on,off etc. is used to turn a bulb on,off multiple times in one single day.... as you are programming all of the days of the week are displayed across the top... if you want to do different times for different days you display just the one day you want to program across the top instead of showing all days of the week
