Programmable Thermostats are the new VCR where unnecessary complicated programming schemes are concerned. Thanks for making this video. To think, I'm an experienced computer tech who can tell a team full of network engineers what they did wrong but somehow the thought of figuring out how to program this thing from the instruction book was melting my brain. So simple now that I've seen it thanks to you.

The fact that this video has over a million views prove that they made it more complicated than it needs to be work a thermostat.

That's a fantastic tutorial! Thank you! For those that think it's too complicated or that want to set it manually, simply set the fan to auto, set to heat for heating or cool for cooling, and press the up or down arrow to get your desired temperature setting. Then press hold to hold that temperature setting permanently. You can reset the up or down arrows anytime you want manually.
@mima43926 жыл бұрын
I did that and it doesn't work. Just to get it to go on I had to set it to 75 and still didn't stay on any where long enough to get heat. We're freezing.

I couldn't get the up/dn arrows to make the screen respond..., so started randomly pressing the Set and Run buttons just to get it to unfreeze. What's wrong with adjusting our own temps when ready to leave or sleep or when we come home??

the newest thermostats have a default setting so when you give up trying to program it you just hold the default button for 3-5 seconds and it sets everything to the most common settings. I think it is the Honeywell Brand. They understand people dont think well when they are shivering or sweat rolling down in your eyes
@shivp225 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for this! So damn helpful. I woke up at 5am freezing so I went downstairs to finally try and work this thing out! The test will be tonight now to see if it works and stays at temp! But at least if nothing else, I understand my Honeywell better so we’ll get there eventually 👍🏼 thanks again!

Good lord, I think I'll just use the fireplace when I want to stay warm xD Is there any way to bypass all the scheduling stuff? I'm retired and just need to adjust the darn thing to constantly maintain about 65 degrees so I neither freeze nor get reamed by a giant power bill.
@lindadryden95727 жыл бұрын
TheJedisch, You can set it manually quite easily. Simply press the up or down arrow to select your desired temperature. Then press the hold button to hold that temperature permanently.
@scottneal27387 жыл бұрын
Ron Dryden, yea mine will not stay and keeps going back to set program when the time for the program engages. I always have to adjust when that time frame changes and would just like to not have the set system schedule on it. I like to do all adjustments myself and that dam set system will keep getting in my way.

@RealestRealist147 жыл бұрын
Fair enough explanation of how to operate the product but it is still 50x more complicated than it should or needs to be. When you have 600k views on a video of how to operate a thermostat chances are you made it much more confusing than it should be.
