You're a lifesaver.... you are quite correct that most people will not want to spend the 1/2 hour (at least) to get something people got more easily 50 years ago. You cannot figure out this device on your own, which means it is poorly designed. The manual, as well as the wiring instructions, is a nightmare. Only youtube videos like this one saved the day!

@@ghostfacejoel Ours was the switch wasn’t flipped to cool all the way, it looked like it from sliding it over but when I turned off and back on, it let me do the manual override on temperature. It is staying 70 degrees overnight and when I finally got the temperature to turn the unit on, it was 82 degrees. Now hopefully we can keep it 74 degrees now.

Thank you. Additionally, I leave my thermostat in the on position to avoid all of the resetting I have go through when the unit is put in off position. Unfortunately, when the batteries need to be changed the unit has to be reset, which is not a fun thing to do. To keep the unit from turning on I manually set the temporary setting higher ( in regards to cooling, vice versa when heating). Your video does explain the manual overide clearly. Honeywell ought to be renamed to Honeyawful.

Who was the genius, That designs a thermostat every time you change something it automatically default to a program mode. I would never recommend this thermostat through anyone it is horrible. Older people just don't want this complication. Firing a person is always the last thing you should do, however this person who designed this should be fired. Honestly this is horrible design. Well never buy another Honeywell product

i set up my schedule bt once i’m on the menu after setting it up it says 80* then i use the arrow to move it up and it says 70? that means the temperature it’s at 70 or 80? also it’s around the time we leave

If it's just blowing out cold air make sure the fan opt-in is on auto and not set to on.

My old 80s(?) thermostat that had mercury in the case/came with the house -- worked like a charm. I might switch it back lol. Luckily I have several wall heaters in some of the rooms, most importantly in my bedroom. Woke up to this thermostat showing 59°.....

Same. I have been messing with this thing so much. For me, it's that stupid set schedule. The wake, leave, return, sleep... Even if you push hold for your desired temperature to override... it would not go on. I changed the "wake" time and it went on to heat until the hold temperature. It is so damn stupid. There should be an option to turn off the schedule completely.

Wired this Thermostat exactly how it showed and the same as my old one. then turn on the power and it blowed the 3 amp fuse in the furnace. I double checked, then triple checked all the wiring installed a new fuse, turn on the power and pop another fuse. Turn off the power, Unhooked this POS installed the old thermostat, replaced the fuse, turn the power on and it works with the old thermostat ( has a issue with battery connectors ). I have installed quite a few thermostats and never had one Fuses are not cheap, and I don't really want to waste another on this POS Honeywell Thermostat. I liked the added features the new one has, but if it only blows fuses then it won't do a bit of F#@$ing good.
