Choices give kids POWER!
(& then they are more likely to do what we are asking!)
Improve receptive, expressive and overall communication skills with these at home speech therapy strategies!
You give the selection, THEY make the decision! Everyone wins & you’ve just provided an excellent opportunity to use those speech & language skills!
For SPEECH articulation: focus on emphasizing the target (letter/sound/vowel) that you are working on in one of the choices! Repeat it 2-3 times when giving the choice & once to confirm the one they chose! BOOM! “Auditory Bombardment” at its finest!
For language: remember to put the PREFERRED item FIRST! (This decreases chances of echolalia/parroting)

Thank you so much. I am an early interventionist struggling with a lot of kids who really need speech therapy but aren't getting it because of a shortage of specialists. These videos are really helpful for me to meet at least some of the children's needs.
