@@MrsAK.Simmons I would say, yes, that is definitely how local residence say it ("BEW-FERT"); I am here now anchored on our sailboat; this is definitely how the locals pronounce it...almost with a strong "D" on the end. Buuuuut.......... that pronunciation is definitely incorrect. Why? Well, look at at the Tudor roses all over the light poles in Beaufort, SC - acknowledging the Tudor history associated with he naming of the city after Henery Somerset, 2nd Duke of *Beaufort England* which is and was and will be pronoun red "BOW-FORT". Go find any historical video on Henery or on Beauford England (north of Cardiff) with locals pronouncing it.... It's like saying "Ask" should be properly pronounced "Axe" ....it's done but it "aint" right.
