What stops me from learning is pronunciation. But I think that with you, I can learn it quickly. Because you teach American pronunciation well.

Great work as always, Keenyn! Your point about stress/emphasis makes me think of the late actor Matthew Perry's character Chandler Bing on "Friends" and the unique cadence he developed emphasizing the wrong words in a sentence. (The New York Times has a good article on this.)

Can you offer any thoughts on why so many people overuse syllables in contractions? For example, I hear a lot of people say the word “didn’t” as “did-dint.” If you are going to use the same number of syllables as “did not” when saying “didn’t,” why bother with the contraction? This applies to “couldn’t” and “shouldn’t,” as well. They become “could-dint” and “should-dint.” Would you offer your thoughts? Thanks!

I have to reach him first, and then I will rest. Good night ✨️ 🌙 💫 Have a wonderful night ✨️ 🌙 💫 ♥️ 🌹 🤝 💖💝👍💗💋✌️💓💕

I hear some people pronounce the word "didn't" as "dint".What's your thought about this?
@brandi_with_an_i3 ай бұрын
Don't tell of the other way a lot of Americans pronounce "doesn't." That may be very tricky.
@Sappho1235 ай бұрын
The Cambridge UK pronunciation of 'didn't' is how I was taught and the way everybody says it I know in the U.S. The Merriam-Webster pronunciation didn't ˈdid-ᵊnt is also the way I was taught and the way everybody I know in the U.S. pronounces the word. It sounds unnatural the way you're teaching and to what the majority of people use. In this case the majority of people's pronunciation of 'didn't' is the correct way to say it. It is not correct to say 'did' followed by X.
