Generally, people who dislike English or any other language courses are already the native of these languages. We should not give them too much attention. 👍

It took me 7 years to find this video but as the old proverb says "Better late than never". I'm Colombian and I always contracted the pronunciation as in your first example (with the ev sound) and my local teachers said it was considered non-standard and I'd better follow the second one that sounded more American. What a relief to know I never made a mistake, I was just using another widely accepted form of reduction

Something fun (no so much) is that the pronunciation 'wouldn't have' has the almost pronunciation 'urinar' in Portuguese that mean 'urinate' in english.

Great theacher so what about other sounds like might not have -> mightn't've must not have -> mustn't've cannot have -> can't've
@Coopos5 жыл бұрын
Good question. In your examples, I would only reduce the "have." It would sound like the word "of" or /əv/. So I would say "might not /əv/" or "must not /əv/." Instead of "cannot have" I would say "couldn't /əv/."

Excuse me i have a doubt, i work as a tourism guide and i do not know which one i have to use, the contracted form or not. I will appreciate your advice. Thank you so much.
@Coopos7 жыл бұрын
It is really your choice. You do not have to use the contracted form if you don't want to. I made this video because someone asked me how Americans make these contractions. If you decide to use the contraction, I suggest you use the one with the /v/.

Most modern English speakers skip this higher level of speaking because of foreigner. Conditionals are used very uniquely in classical American English and we are losing our identity by avoiding using this phrase.
