Thank you so much! I just played this for my 8 year old, and she corrected her pronunciation in less than a min and a half! She followed you along, and I had to pause a few times because she’d forget and say ‘free’ again lol anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH for creating this! You’re a genius!! ❤

I am pleased that you mentioned the word "million". It is quite subtle for/ l /linking with /j/. I thought it had three syllables wrongly. Thanks for your correction.

Hey Jade. Thank you for the lesson. The 'repeat after me' at the end was great, i actually practiced :D Why isn't it 'triple the cost' but 'treble the cost' ?

I think the hardest thing with “three” is the combination of “th” and “r”. Just as I find the combination of sounds in the word “world” hard to pronounce. “World War Three” is horror both as a concept and as for the pronunciation.

The way President Trump pronounces the word billion is good. As you know he places great emphasis on the "i" vowel and "l" consonants.

What about Th-fronting? I've been learning English for many many years, and I swear I never heard anyone pronounce "thing" as "fing", "three" as "free", or "mother" as "muvver", until a couple of years ago. For the life of me, I don't understand it, and I find it incredibly annoying.
@JadeJoddle3 жыл бұрын
It’s very common and not a new thing at all. It’s part of the cockney accent. More info on that here: jadejoddle.com/downloads/Accent-Pack.pdf

I'm not Irish, but I can not see what the problem is when 3 sounds like tree, and 33 sounds like dirty tree. I'm definitely proud when non-Irish people say my 33 sounds like dirty tree if I'm in Ireland.

Always thought 'treble' meant high frequency range only. Now wonder why didn't you explain two similar words here - 'threefold' and 'thrice'. But I've got more important question: is that an American way to say 'thirty hundred' instead of 'three thousand' or it's just an easier way to pronounce? Anyway, thank you for the lesson on the tricky pronounciation!
@JadeJoddle3 жыл бұрын
Not sure I understand the question about 'thirty hundred'. I always call the number 3000 'three thousand'.
@BlacktoothgrinUA3 жыл бұрын
@@JadeJoddle That's weird: I often hear such form, yet haven't figured out if it's more typical for the US, the UK or both. E.g. 1,500 - fifteen hundred, 6,500 - sixty five hundred.
